CAUTION!
The energizer has an AUTO-ON function. As such, the energizer
starts following connection to the mains network.
3. Commissioning
Switch on the energizer with the push button
pressed for longer than 2 seconds to switch on/off. An LED test (Fig. 5 /
LEDs 2 - 9, from left to right) starts after 1 second. After this test, all LEDs
go out and after 1 second you will hear a rhythmic even ticking of the pulses;
the energizer is in operation. The energizer transmits pulses to the fence and
the LED display lights up.
If none of the LEDs light up (not even the status LED
rechargeable battery is depleted or the energizer or the 110-230 V mains
adapter is defective.
Commissioning - Power supply units:
Device starts automatically once it is connected to the power supply After 1
second, you will hear a rhythmic even ticking of the pulses; the device is in
operation.
The energizer transmits pulses to the fence and the LED display lights up.
The fact of the status LEDs not lighting up points to a defect in the power
supply
Checking the earthing:
Provoke a short-circuit by driving a metal rod into the ground against the
pasture fence wire (not plastic) about 50 m away from the pasture fencer.
The pasture fencer should now result in the lighting up of only a maximum 1
LED (moist ground) or of a maximum 2 LEDs (dry ground) (Fig. 5 LED 9 and
8). If this is not the case, then raise the number and / or length of the earth-
ing posts.
4. Energizer Operating Description
The energizer is in the "Normal" mode the first time that it is switched on. If the energizer is switched off or the rechargeable
battery is changed, then the energizer continues to run in the last set mode.
Rechargeable battery indicator:
The rechargeable battery indicator (Fig. 5 LED 2) provides information about the rechargeable battery or battery voltage.
Battery indicator Ranger B:
Fence voltage indicator
The 6 LEDs (LED4 - LED9) indicate the fence output voltage in 1000V steps. The indicator builds up from the left.
For herding security purposes at least 3 LEDs (3000V) should light up otherwise the voltage is too low.
Possible causes:
● With fence: Marked growth at fence, poor insulators, short-circuit at metal posts, or fence too long
● Without fence: Device is defective, see Service

), the 9V or 12 V
Power economiser:
A fitted power economiser matches power consumption to the state of the fence. This means less current consumption with
well insulated fences and a greater current consumption with poorly insulated fences (leakages due to plant growth, etc.).
Argutector display:
The 6 LEDs (Fig. 5 LEDs 4 to 9) indicate fence insulation by way of the Argutector display in 6 steps. The display builds up
from the right. If all 6 LEDs light up, the fence insulation is good and little energy is required to maintain herding security. The
fewer the number of lit up LEDs, the poorer the fence insulation is due to leakages (plant growth, branches fallen onto the
fence system, short-circuit, poor earthing). Increased energy is required to keep the fence herding-secure.
Various modes can be set with press button 1 (Fig. 4) . The currently set mode is displayed by pressing the button briefly.
All modes can then be selected one by one with each additional button pressing. The mode selected last remains set after
exiting the menu. The energizer again shows the fence voltage and Argutector values after 5 seconds.

* APN (Automatic Power Niveau): The output energy of the energizer is set initially, for instance, to 50% and the actual fence
voltage is measured continuously. If the output voltage is below 5,000 V or drops below this value, the energizer gradually
increases the output energy until the output voltage is above 5,000 V or the maximum energy of the energizer (100%) is
reached. In order to ensure herding security with the lowest possible energy requirement, the output power can also be
turned down automatically when the fence voltage is above the minimum herding voltage of 5,000 V.
This intelligent control ensures that the set voltage or minimum herding voltage at the energizer of 5,000V is always main-
tained at the same time as the energizer's energy requirement is optimized.

The rechargeable battery must be recharged at the latest when discharged down to 20% (only 80% charge capacity left) to
prevent a flat battery. The rechargeable battery indicator (LED2) lights up:
