9. Decommissioning

To deactivate the barrel and to end operation, pull the mains plug completely from the mains socket.
The barrel pump may stay in the rain barrel while the weather is frost-free.
If operation is interrupted for a longer period, we nevertheless recommend taking the barrel pump out of the
rain barrel to prevent algae formation.
If the barrel pump is to be disconnected from the hose/telescopic tube and taken from the rain barrel (e.g. for cleaning,
maintenance or storage in winter), proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the barrel pump from the power supply, pull the mains plug from the mains socket.
• Pull the barrel pump from the water using the hose/telescopic tube.
The barrel pump must never be pulled out by the mains cable, the float switch or the cable of the float
switch! This may damage the cable or the float switch; there is danger to life from electric shock!
• Disconnect the hose/telescopic tube from the barrel pump.
• Let residual water run out of the barrel pump by holding it diagonally or turning it upside-down.
• Dry the barrel pump and the mains cable and clean the product. Coil up the mains cable.
• Store the barrel pump in a frost-protected and dry room over winter.
Also consider emptying the hoses placed outdoors to prevent frost damage; open any water taps that may
be installed. This also applies to the shut-off valve (2).
• Carry or transport the barrel pump only by the carry handle. It must never be held by the mains cable, the float
switch or the cable of the float switch.
• After operation or emptying, a small amount of water may remain in the barrel pump. Therefore, use a suitable
support when storing or transporting it in a vehicle.

10. Maintenance and Cleaning

The product is maintenance-free for you. Maintenance or repair and opening of the barrel pump in this context must
only be performed by a specialist or specialist workshop.
Before cleaning, disconnect the barrel pump from the mains voltage; pull the mains plug from the mains socket.
To clean the outside of the barrel pump, a dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient. If required, flush the outside with clear
water.
Any contamination of intake openings may be removed under running water (e.g. garden hose). The barrel pump
inside may be flushed with running water as well by removing the hose and any connection pieces.
Dry the barrel pump and the mains cable before storing it.
Never use any aggressive cleaning agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these may
damage the casing or even impair function.
