5. Guide for intended use

Before starting work, the charge level of the battery should be
checked. A low charge level can, for example, be detected by a 20
second illumination of the LED display (pos.6) at the end of a test
press. (see section 4.3)

5.1 Operation of the unit

Firstly, the pressing jaws (pos. 10) to be used should be checked
for possible damage or dirt in the compression area. If they come
from a different manufacturer, it is also necessary to check that
they can be used with our unit. To insert or change the pressing
jaws, please follow pictures 6-8.
After the fitting has been mounted on the tube, the pressing jaws
are opened by pushing the rear end (picture 5, pos. E) and
positioned on the fitting.
The pressing process is initiated by actuating the trigger (pos. 1,
picture 2 pos. D). The pressing process is characterised by the
closing of the pressing jaws. The drive rolls on top of the piston
rod close the pressing jaws in a similar way to a pair of scissors.
Attention
Ensure that the locking pin (pos.3) is fully inserted
and securely engaged.
Attention
A necessary condition for a permanent, leak-free
press is that the pressing process is completed, i.e.
the pressing jaws have completely closed at the tip
as well as at the T-link.
Attention
The assembly of gas pipes in gas distribution lines
is prohibited unless the system provider gives an
explicid permission to use this tool on special gas
fittings.
Attention
The pressing process can be interrupted at any time
by releasing the trigger.
Attention
After completion of the pressing process, an
additional visual check must be performed to see
whether the pressing jaws have completely closed.
Attention
If a pressing process has been interrupted, the
fitting either has to be removed or re-pressed.
It is important that the pressing jaws are completely closed and
that there are no foreign bodies (e.g. fragments of plaster or stone)
between the jaws.
In case of error or emergency, the drive rolls can be returned to
their starting position by pressing the release button (pos. 2,
picture 2 pos. B).
If the maximum operating temperature has been reached, the drive
rolls return automatically to their starting position and the pressing
jaws can be opened.
If a pressing process has been interrupted, the fitting either has to
be removed or re-pressed.
Attention
Before the pressing jaws are changed,
remove battery to prevent unintentional
operation.

5.2 Explanation of the application range

The UP75 is a manually-operated unit for the pressing of fittings
on UNIPIPE pipes. The unit must not be clamped. It is not designed
for stationary operation.
Pressing jaws and pressing loops are available for our electric
hydraulic pressing unit type UP75 which allows the pressing of
pipes and fittings of different sizes. Dies are available for the
following dimensions (OD).

The unit is not designed for continual use. After 50 consecutive
pressings, a 15 minute break is required to allow the unit to cool
down.
Attention
Intensive use can cause overheating and damage the
unit.
Attention
The operation of electric motors can cause sparks
which can ignite highly flammable or volatile
substances.
Attention
The electric hydraulic pressing unit must not be
operated in heavy rain or under water.

5.3 Fitting Instructions

Cutting
Picture 1
Cut the UNIPIPE pipe 14-20 mm at a right angle with the pipe
cutter.
Picture 2
When installing UNIPIPE in a protective tube, the corrugated tube
can be cut with the pipe cutter without touching the UNIPIPE.
Picture 3
Cut the UNIPIPE pipe 25-75 mm with the pipe cutting tool.
Centring and bevelling of 14-25mm
Picture 4
Centre and bevel the UNIPIPE with the 3-size bevelling tool until
an even chamfer of at least 2 mm depth is visible (see pictures 8/9).
Picture 5
Alternatively, the UNIPIPE can be centred and bevelled with the
single bevelling tool and fitted handle.
Picture 6
For easier handling, the single bevelling tool without its handle can
be used on an electric drill.
Attention
The maximum number of revolutions must not
exceed 500 rpm in order to avoid damages to the
inner pipe due to overheating.
