Lighting Instructions
Reference Fig. 5 for the following instructions.
1. For Propane gas use, slowly open the gas supply container
valve. (This prevents lockup of the excess flow check valve
internal to the regulator's POL fitting.)
2. Depress the gas control knob down half way and rotate it so
the white line on the knob aligns to the PILOT position on
the gas control valve.
3. Once in the PILOT position, firmly push and hold the gas
control knob down.
4. Push the igniter button repeatedly to light the burner.
FIG. 5
■ On new installations, please allow time for the gas to purge
the air out prior to lighting the burner. The purge varies and
can take a couple of minutes or more.
5. Keep the valve button depressed for about 30 seconds to
allow the thermocouple to warm up.
6. Release the gas control knob.
7. Once the pilot is lit, rotate the knob to the ON or LOW
position. The burner flame will ignite at the burner orifice.

fail due to dust, dirt, wear or aging.
■ Periodic cleaning and inspection as well as
proper maintenance are essential to avoid
serious injury or damage
1. Before cleaning, close all gas supply valves.
2. Before each use give the heater a general clean-
ing using compressed air, a soft brush, or dry rag,
on its case and internal components.
3. At least once a year, clean the electrode rod
with steel wool or emery cloth and inspect the
electrode tip for proper gapping. See FIG. 16 for
detail.
WARNING
Do not use a pressure washer, water or liquid
cleaning solution on any gas controls. Use of a
pressure washer, water, or liquid cleaning
solution on the control components can cause
severe personal injury or property damage due
to water and/or liquids:
* On gas control valves causing corrosion which
can result in gas leaks and fire or explosion from
the leak.
Clean all components of the heater with
pressurized air, a dry brush or a dry cloth.
