INSTRUCTIONS FOR AXC
READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO THE
FAN IS LOCKED IN THE "OFF" POSITION.
WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY UNTIL THE FAN
IS COMPLETELY INSTALLED.
INSTALLATION
1. Turn centrifugal impeller by hand to make sure it rotates freely. If
impeller hits the orifice, adjust the fit by loosening the motor bracket
screws, adjusting the wheel location, and then re-tightening all
fasteners.
2. Attach the mounting brackets to the fan (as per illustration).
3. Using the mounting brackets, attach the fan to a permanent structure.
4. Connect the duct to both the inlet and discharge of the fan.
CAUTION: "For General Ventilation Use Only. Do Not Use To Exhaust
Hazardous Or Explosive Material and Vapours".
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK,
OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
1. Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you
have any questions, contact your manufacturer.
2. Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at the service panel
and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being
switched on accidentally. When the service disconnecting means
cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as
a tag, to the service panel.
3. This unit has rotating parts, safety precautions should be exercised
during installation, operation and maintenance.
4. Installation and electrical wiring must be done by a qualified person(s)
in accordance with all applicable building codes and safety standards,
including fire rated construction.
5. Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of
gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent
backdrafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer's guidelines
and safety standards, such as those published by the National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), the American Society of Heating,
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and local
code authorities.
6. When cutting into walls or ceilings, take care to not damage any
electrical wiring or other hidden utilities.
7. Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors when used to
exhaust moist / humid air.
8. CAUTION: This unit has an unguarded impeller. Do not use in locations
readily accessible to people or animals.
9. NEVER place a switch where it can be reached from a tub or a shower.
10. If this unit is to be installed over a tub or shower, it must be marked as
appropriate for the application and be connected to a GFCI (Ground
Fault Circuit Interrupter) – protected branch circuit.
11. GUARDS MUST BE INSTALLED WHEN FAN IS WITHIN REACH OF
PERSONNEL, OR WITHIN SEVEN (7) FEET OF WORKING LEVEL,
OR WHEN DEEMED ADVISABLE FOR SAFETY.
12. Suitable for use with solid-state speed controls.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to
duct air outside – Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceiling
or into attics, crawls spaces, or garages.
USER SERVICING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO THE
FAN IS LOCKED IN THE "OFF" POSITION BEFORE PERFORMING
ANY MAINTENANCE.
The impellers must be inspected regularly. In order to inspect the
impeller, disconnect and lock out the power supply, and remove fan
from the duct work. Inspect the impeller, remove any obstructions,
and clean with a damp cloth. Any accumulation of dust or dirt
must be removed, in order to keep the fan running vibration free.
All AXC model exhaust fans are built with bearings that are sealed for life,
and do not require lubrication.
WARRANTY
Continental Fan AXC fans are warranted against defects in material
and workmanship for a period of five years from the date of purchase,
when properly installed, operated and maintained in accordance with
instructions. All other products are warranted for a period of one year from
the date of purchase.
This warranty does not apply to:
1. Product that has been modified, installed/wired improperly, abused,
misused or damaged due to conditions such as excessive temperature,
corrosive and/or abrasive environments.
2. Claims must be filed with the carrier, by the purchaser, for any shipping
damage, either concealed or visible.
3. Product which has had the identification label removed or altered.
No other warranty, express, implied or written, applies to this product.
Continental Fan shall not be responsible for any consequential or incidental
damage, loss of property, revenue or profit, cost of removal, installation,
personal damage or loss of life, or for any breach of warranty, regardless
of how caused.
