3.8 ALUMINUM MIG WELDING

The welding unit is set up as described in section 3.7
with the following differences, one now uses 100%
Argon as protective gas.
-
Also use an aluminum welding wire e.g., AlMg-5
and wire feed rollers that are specially designed for
aluminum welding wire.
-
Do not use these rollers for steel or stainless steel
welding. Work cleanly!
-
The wire coils should be stored in plastic bags
containing absorption granules.
-
See figure 7 for the recommended welding position.

3.9 STAINLESS STEEL MIG WELDING

The welding unit is set up as described in section 3.7
with the following differences, 98% Argon and 2% O-2
are now used as shielding gas.
-
The welding rod can be selected from stainless steel
304, 308 or 316 LSi.
-
See figure 7 for the recommended welding position.

3.10 MMA WELDING

-
This welding machine is suitable for welding all
types of electrodes, with the exception of cellulose
electrodes.
-
Make sure the switch (5) is at 0 and then connect
the welding cables, ensuring that the polarity
prescribed by the manufacturer of the used
electrodes is respected.

VERY IMPORTANT:

Connect the grounding cable to the negative Din-
Coupling (1) using the work clamp (ground clamp)
and ensure good contact to guarantee trouble-free
operation of the equipment and avoid voltage drop
with the workpiece.
-
Connect the electrode cable with the electrode
holder (welding pliers) to the positive Din-Coupling
(3).
-
Check that the correct mains voltage corresponds to
the welding machine.
-
Do not touch the electrode holder and ground
connection at the same time.
-
Turn the machine on with the on/off switch (5).
-
Press the process selection button (21) to select
MMA welding (21b or 21c).
-
Set the welding current and parameters (see points
17-19).
Figure 7
Never forget to switch off the machine and
remove the electrode from the clamp after
welding.

3.11 TIG WELDING

-
This welding machine is suitable for TIG welding
(LIFT TIG) of the following materials: aluminum,
stainless steel, iron, copper.
-
Check that the correct mains voltage corresponds to
the welding machine.
-
Do not touch the welding torch and ground
connection at the same time.
-
Connect the TIG welding torch to the negative pole
(1) of the welding machine and connect the control
current plug to the control current connection (2)
and the gas connection (¼' on right) in position (4).
-
Connect the workpiece cable to the positive pole
(3) of the welding machine and connect the earth
clamp to the workpiece as close as possible to the
welding point.
Connect the gas hose to the (tulle) connection (10)
-
of the machine and the pressure regulator, which in
turn is connected to an ARGON cylinder.
Turn the machine on with the on/off switch (5).
-
-
Set the process selector (21) to LIFT TIG (21d).
-
If a water-cooled TIG welding torch and water
cooling unit are used, check that the water cooler
contains sufficient cooling agent and connect all
hoses / cables correctly.
Connect the water hoses of the torch to the front
of the water cooler (73/74). Make sure the blue
(supply) and red (drainage) hoses match the color of
the connections.
Connect the connecting cable (between power
source and water cooler) to the back of the power
source (8) and the back of the water cooler (75).
Use the selection button (25) to select 'water
cooling 'option' (27), if you want to switch on
the water cooler and use a water-cooled torch.
Select the 'air cooling 'option' (26), when using an
air-cooled welding torch. The water cooler is then
switched off.
-
Set the selection button (22) to TIG 2-stroke or
4-stroke (the corresponding LED lights up).
-
Press the switch on the TIG welding torch and set
the gas consumption.
-
Use a tungsten electrode that is suitable for steel
and stainless steel. For example, an electrode with
2% cerium, with a diameter of Ø 2.4 mm (3/32").
-
Set the welding current (18) with the control knob
(12).
-
Set the Down Slope (20) with the operating button
(12).
-
Set the gas pre-flow (58) and post-flow (59) with
the selector switch (57).
Do not forget to turn off the machine and close
the gas bottle valve after welding.
