64) Wave control setting knob. This function
ensures a smooth melting bath in the short-circuit
arc area and a regular material transfer. This
setting controls the rate of current rise and drop
when the welding wire comes into contact with
the workpiece (short-circuit arc). A higher setting
increases the short-circuit time and reduces the
short-circuit frequency. This results in a wider,
softer arc, which is useful for thicker welded joints.
A lower wave control setting provides a narrower,
more controlled arc. Wire speed, diameter and
type, as well as shielding gas, change the effect of
the wave control setting on the arc. Adjusting the
wave control has no practical effect on open arc
welding (as opposed to short-circuit arc welding).

3.3 WATER COOLING UNIT

The welding machine comes standard with a water
cooling unit. The right cooling agent to use is a mixture
of mono-propylene glycol (for the food industry) or
mono-ethylene glycol (standard) and softened water
(ratio 1:4). Softened water can be used as a cooling
agent, although it is not recommended. It does not
benefit the reliability of the water cooling system in
the long term because it does not have the lubrication
properties of glycol. It also offers no protection against
freezing. Ready-to-use cooling agent is available at the
dealer. Do not use a water-cooled welding torch without
the water cooler switched on.
