Deguvest
– gypsum-bonded investment compound for precision casting –
Deguvest California is a high-quality gypsum-bonded, graphite-free investment compound . The fine
grain size guarantees an outstanding surface quality with excellent model detail reproduction .
The product is also notable for the ease with which it can be removed from the casting ring, one of
the most important considerations when judging an investment compound e .g . for inlay technique .
Deguvest California is suitable exclusively for low-fusing precious metal dental alloys,
e .g . Degunorm , Degulor
®
When heating, the preheating temperature for the alloy being used must be taken into consideration
whereby 750 °C should not be exceeded . Deguvest California is mixed with distilled water .

1 Safety information

Mixing with other liquids or material induces health hazards as well as impairments to the cast quality .
All dental investment compounds contain crystalline quartz and /or cristobalite .
• This product contains quartz and cristobalite, some in the form of fine dust that may penetrate the
pulmonary alveoli . Inhalation of the dust constitutes a potential carcinogenic hazard . Ensure that an
adequate suction line/ventilation is available in the workspace and near the machines .
• Inhalation the dust of the product may trigger silicosis .
• Employers must provide Class P3 respiratory protection .
• Heating the investment compound above 200°C will result in the formation of ammonia . Ammonia
irritates the respiratory organs .
• May cause mechanical irritation of the skin and mucosa of the eye and respiratory passages .
• Irritation and caustic reactions to the skin and mucosa must be expected on local contact .
Carry out the "coarse" removal of the casting under water or soak the investment material mould .
1.1 Information for the processing of mixing liquids for dental investment compounds
Following skin contact:
Wash with plenty of water .
Following eye contact:
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water keeping eyelid open .
In case of persistent discomfort: Consult an ophthalmologist .
Mixing liquids are alkaline .
