5.2 Setting
Allow the mould to set for 45 – 60 minutes, depending on it's size (see table: "Heat treatment",
point 5 .1) . When using the quick-heating process, allow the muffle to harden for 60 minutes . If the
mould is heated too soon, the investment compound may crack .
6 Pre-heating /casting
6.1 Pre-heating
After the recommended setting time, the wax can be burned out in accordance with the table below
and heated to the preheating temperature recommended for the alloy being used . The maximum
heating rate should not exceed 7 °C per minute .
Heating
Setting time
Initial temperature of pre-heating furnace
Wax-elimination time (at 290 °C)
Holding time at final temperature
Ensure that the maximum preheating temperature does not exceed 750 °C !
Quick heating:
Place the muffle in the pre-heated furnace (at final temperature, up to a maximum of 750 °C, depending
on the alloy) . Maintain the final temperature for between 40 and 60 minutes (depending on the loads
within the furnace and the size of the muffle) .
Place the mould in the furnace so the wax can easily stream out . Wax residues can penetrate the
capillaries of the investment compound and carbonize .
The moisture of the investment compound also aids wax bum out . Moulds which have dried overnight
should be soaked slightly in water before the casting rings are placed in the furnace to eliminate the
wax .
6.2 Casting
Follow the instructions of the alloy manufacturer .
6.3 Devesting
Allow the casting ring to cool slowly at room temperature and remove the investment compound
under running water with a small brush (old toothbrush) .
