DEFROSTING THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT
The defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely automatic. Droplets of water on the rear wall of the
compartment indicate that the periodic automatic defrost cycle is in progress. The defrost water is automatically
routed to a drain outlet and into a tray, from which it evaporates.
1. Clean the drain hole periodically with the defrost drain plug.
This prevents water collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator instead of flowing out.
2. You can also clean the drain hole by pouring half a glass of water down it.
DEFROSTING THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT
Defrost the freezer compartment when the layer of ice reaches a thickness of 3 to 5 mm.
Caution:
Never remove the ice with the aid of sharp objects, defrost sprays, a hair-dryer, a heater, or similar items.
This may lead to unsafe situations and may cause irreparable damage to the appliance.
1. Turn off the appliance and disconnect the plug from the mains supply.
2. Remove the contents of the freezer and keep them in a cool place wrapped in blankets or newspapers.
3. Place one or more bowls with warm water in the freezer compartment to speed up the defrosting process. Do not
use sharp metal objects for this operation. Use a plastic scraper.
4. Clean the freezer compartment with warm water and a neutral detergent, such as bicarbonate of soda, and dry
thoroughly.
5. Clean the removable parts in the same way and reassemble.
6. Reconnect the appliance to the mains supply and leave it for 2 to 3 hours on the maximum setting before
introducing the food back into the freezer.
Examine the contents before placing them back in the freezer. If some of the packages have thawed out, they
should be eaten within 24 hours, or be cooked and then re-frozen.
