To Remove the Guard
(Fig. 3)
Press the Guard Release Lever 12, rotate the
Guard 9 until the Keys on the Guard 15 line
up with the Notches on the Guard Mounting
Flange 14, and lift the Guard 9 off the Guard
Mounting Flange 14.
Vibration Control Side Handle
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2)
The side handle is used to control and balance
the tool. The handle must be thread ed into the
front housing on either side of the tool, de-
pending on per sonal preference and comfort.
Use the side handle for safe control and ease
of operation.
Hand Shield (sold separately)
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2)
The Hand Shield 7 is to be used with back-
ing pads, sanding discs and wire brushes to
keep fingers and hand away from work surface,
sharp edges, burrs and debris. When using the
optional Hand Shield 7 accessory insert side
handle through hole in the Hand Shield 7 and
then thread into housing.
Ensure that Hand Shield 7 is positioned be-
tween hand and backing pad, sanding disc, or
wire brush.
Assembly
Quick-Clamping Nut
(Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 5, Fig. 6)
Speed rated at least equal to the maximum
speed marked on the power tool. This speed is
based on the strength of the wheel. It is not
meant to imply a best or most efficient operat-
ing speed. Do not exceed the Maximum Safe
Operating Speed.
Use the Quick-Clamping Nut 10 to secure the
grinding/cutting disc without the need for ad-
ditional tools. Only use the Quick-Clamping Nut
10 for grinding/cutting discs up to a maximum
diameter of 5" (125 mm).
• The Quick-Clamping Nut 10 may be used
only for grinding or cutting discs.
• Only use Quick-Clamping Nut 10 that are
in good working order and not damaged.
• When screwing on, make sure that the
printed side of the Quick-Clamping Nut
10 is not facing the grinding disc.
Press the Spindle Lock Button 1 to lock the
grinding Spindle 18
Clamping Nut 10, lift the Fold-Up Bar 17
turn the Quick-Clamping Nut 10 firmly clock-
wise
. Then push down the Fold-Up Bar 17
to secure the Quick-Clamping Nut 10. It is
not sufficient to tighten the disc along the edge.
A properly secured, undamaged Quick-Clamp-
ing Nut 10 can be removed by hand. To do this,
lift the Fold-Up Bar 17
Clamping Nut 10 firmly countcerclockwise
If the Quick-Clamping Nut 10 is stuck, do not
attempt to loosen it with a tool – always use a
lock nut wrench.
