Tips and notes

Efficiency in the solar operation: The solar modules should be oriented exactly to the light source for a maximum efficiency of e.
efficiency then is achieved at the connection of an external device to e.
a)
e.
GO!
is equipped with charged batteries (ideal: Li-Ion, only with PROFESSIONAL possible)
b)
the solar radiation is approx. 50-100% of the maximum value (1000 W/m²: approximately midday sun in Central Europe, approximately
March till October)
c)
the external device is operated in switch position 1 (1.3 watts) and at use of an additional external double module in switch position 1 or 2
(1.3 or 2.5 watts) at use with 1 or 2 solar modules (FUN or MASTER/PROFESSIONAL).
By the patented power control system of e.
irradiation. Excess solar energy is stored in the internal batteries, energy is taken proportionately from the batteries at a solar cover shortage.
Efficiency and output power: the lower the output power of e.
effectiveness. Some devices need a minimum operation or charging performance as of which they accept operation or charging, though. It is
therefore recommended to start in switch position 1 (1.3 watts) first and to change to position 2 (2.5 watts) or 3 (4.0 watts) when necessary.
Switch position 3 should be used only in exceptions and is suitable for the operation with the PROFESSIONAL mains adapter primarily.
Tolerance of the output power: The output power values given for the switch positions 1 to 3 are average values and depend of the anbient
temperature and the output voltage: For details on possible deviations please contact our service.
Discharging of external devices: Many devices consume a relatively high current internally if they are attached to an external battery charger. This
pure loss current is typically 20 to 30 mA however up to 80 mA at mobile phones, at PDAs 20 to 100 mA (depending on device). A direct
operation of such devices with e.GO! without an internal battery buffering should therefore always be carried out only at full sunshine since
otherwise the charging current is lower than the internal consumption current of the external device. Otherwise possible consequence: The external
device discharges itself internally despite an external charging current!
GO!
Battery types: e.
is ideally suitable for the operation with 1 or 2 Li-Ion batteries (only PROFESSIONAL) or with 2 or 4 NiMH batteries with a
capacity as high as possible. By the intelligent charging control with different charge modes any given battery type is charged optimally, also NiCd
batteries and RAM cells nevertheless. NiCd batteries shouldn't be used in AAA form since the capacity falls below the lower limit (cf. table 1.) RAM
cells are not usable for frequent charging and only for low discharge currents. There is danger of injury and of damaged RAM cells at a device defect.
The use of RAM cells therefore happens at its own risk.
Batteries which are faulty or not specified: Batteries with an internal short circuit are charged by e.
revitalised only in exceptions. If therefore no charge condition of at least 20 - 50 % is achieved (LED2 flashes) after a charge time of several hours
either with an external mains adapter, the batteries shouldn't be further used in e.
such as batteries with a lower capacity, primary batteries or other battery systems, as well as of RAM cells is excluded by the warranty. Primary
batteries can however, especially in emergencies, be used for an exclusive discharging in e.
Ruggedness and mechanical shocks: e.
rough outdoor operation as well. It therefore stands scratches and shocks similarly as other mobile devices (mobile phones, PDAs etc.). It,
however, isn't protected against strong mechanical shocks, such as when dropping on a hard underground. The optional protection cover (in the
PROFESSIONAL scope of supply) which can be pulled up on the case offers more safety here.
Humidity: If water penetrates into the case of e.
GO!
e.
then should be placed so, that the water can leave. After drying faultless operation should be possible again. High humidity as e.g. it
happens in tropical regions isn't a problem for e.
Temperature protective measures: e.
components as well as the user from damage. It can therefore come to a switching off of the charging process at ambient temperatures above
approx. 45°C especially at use of the mains adapter and simultaneous charging of AA batteries and operation of an external device in switch
position 3 (4 watts). a switching off of the charging process is also possible at low ambient temperatures below approx. 0°C since otherwise the
batteries can be damaged. If the base unit is shone on directly by the sunlight, the internal temperature rise is accordingly higher and a switching
off can take place already earlier. Always you should pay attention, that the base unit therefore is shaded by the solar modules. Basically, an
operation in heated vehicles (inside temperature above 45°C) or in other hot surroundings is not recommended. At a temperature switching off all
LEDs are turned off.
Short circuit and overcharge: e.
switches its internal and external power supply off in this case. Such a case should be nevertheless absolutely avoided by the user and paid
attention to a proper function of attached external components. e.

lead to the emergence of output voltages of more than 16 V as well as for the use of not original adapter cables.
