Required Equipment


Ranger 7000 Scale (software version 1.11 or newer) or a scale with a Defender 5000 Indicator
(TD52P/XW, software version 1.05 or newer)

Zebra Label Printer – GC420t or similar supporting ZPL programming language


2 RS232 Kit (for Ranger 7000 only, not required when connecting to GC420t)

RS232 cable to connect a compatible PC running OHAUS ScaleMate (Interface kit RS232-USB, PN
30304101), and then from the Zebra printer to the OHAUS scale (OHAUS PN 30057595).

OHAUS ScaleMate software (version 2.21 or newer), running on a compatible PC. Refer to the video
of ScaleMate for more information (available in OHAUS DMX).
1.3. Printer Connections
For connecting to OHAUS Ranger 7000 or Defender 5000 (TD52 series), the following items are required:

Ranger 7000:
i. Connecting to GC420t:
1. A male-to-male null modem cable that switches pin 2 and 3 (TX and RX) is required. (OHAUS
PN 30057595).
2. For detailed instructions, please see section 6.2.2 Connecting to a Serial Printer in the
Ranger 7000 manual.
ii. Connecting to other Zebra printer model:
1. It can only be connected to Zebra Printer via 2
2. An interface cable with one male connector is required. This is not the standard cable sold by
OHAUS, it can be sourced from an electronics parts supplier. It can also be made by cutting
off one of the male heads from cable OHAUS PN 30057595 and wiring it in directly into the
Ranger 7000.

TD52P indicator:

TD52XW indicator:
i. An interface cable with one male connector is required. This is not the standard cable sold by
OHAUS, it can be sourced from an electronics parts supplier. It can also be made by cutting off
one of the male heads from cable OHAUS PN 30057595 and wiring it in directly into the TD52XW
indicator.
