Definition, purpose, limitations and
conditions of use
The LNX electrical powered hoists are designed for incorporation in SAE (Suspended Access
Equipment).
As a part of an SAE, the electrically operated hoist(s) are mounted on a platform and
a suspension rope will be reeved into it, allowing the hoist(s) to lift and lower the platform.
Eventually, a secondary rope is reeved into it for the built-in fall arrest device (.
In an LNX hoist, the following additional functions and/or safety devices can be incorporated:
Mechanical anti-tilt device (also Slack Rope Device)
Electrical Switch on anti-tilt jaw mechanism
Manual Trip Lever for fall arrest device
Overspeed Device
Electro-mechanical Overload Detection device
Electronic Overload Detection device
Ultimate Top Limit device
Top Limit device
Hour Counter
Failure to operate, use, inspect and maintain the hoist as described in this manual, could result
in serious injury or death
Explosive atmospheres
The LNX electrical powered hoists are not rated for operating in an explosion hazardous
environment.
Select an air powered hoist.
Corrosive atmospheres
When Sky Climber LNX electrical powered hoists are being used in corrosive work-associated
atmospheres such as acid washing, the hoist and its supporting steel wire rope shall be protected
from direct contact with the corrosive solutions and agents. Each day, on the final descent, the steel
wire rope shall be washed with a neutralizing solution and relubricated. Stainless steel wire rope,
which is far more resistant to corrosion deterioration, can be obtained from Sky Climber.
