Tips & Tricks
1. Water sprinkler (2)
The warmth of the water controls the water sprinkler The frequency with which the seeds are
sprinkled with water does not influence how they thrive Even constant sprinkling would not
impede the growth of the seeds
If the water does not start sprinkling within a few minutes of starting the appliance, make sure that
you assembled the tubes (4) correctly
Occasionally clean the water outlets of the sprinkler with a sharp object This prevents loosened
seed particles from getting stuck there, leading to a standstill of the sprinkler (see "Troubleshoo-
ting" pg 31)
2. Seeds
Use organically grown seeds for best results
Old seeds (older than one year) can lead to spoiled sprouts or delay their growth
To speed up germination, steep your seeds overnight

not quality) Remove the cloth a couple of hours before you want to harvest, in order to activate
the chlorophyll
If you prefer thicker sprouts, put a weight onto the top sprout screen (3) (i e : clean (!) stones or
apples) The sprouts must now push hard against the heavy sprout screen above them, resulting
in thicker sweeter sprouts
3. Mould
Mould can easily occur in moist and warm surroundings Prevent mould by changing the water of
your sprouter daily Foam or cloudy water is also a sure sign that you should change the water
Especially in the first days of the germination process, it is recommendable – depending on the
type of seeds – to change the water one to two times a day
Another possibility to prevent mould is to add 3% hydrogen peroxide (H
seed extract Simply add 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide or a few drops of the grapefruit seed
extract into the water in the water barrel (7) It is also helpful to clean the seeds in this solution
4. Light
Daylight is sufficient to cultivate lush green sprouts If you have a shady place for the FreshLife®,
you can remove the lid (1) 2-3 days before the harvest In this growing stage, you can remove the
lid from your FreshLife
more air, which is especially advantageous during hot weather Especially on hot summer days
(above 30° C), do not expose your sprouts to direct sunlight If the light is not sufficient for sprout
growth, you should use a full-spectrum light or plant lights
