Cleaning
Where food and water are, mould is not far away
To make sure that you get lots of pleasure out of
your FreshLife
and can reap its health benefits,
®
it is necessary that you take good care of and
clean the appliance This will help you to prevent
mould occurring
1. Remove the power plug from the outlet.
2. Disassemble your FreshLife
3. Cleaning the sprout screens (3)
Since sprout roots tend to get into the ope-
nings of the sprout screen, it is necessary to
carry through a "2-phase cleaning"
1
st
phase: Rinse off your sprout screens
under running water Use a washing-
up brush and some washing-up liquid,
vinegar, or lemon, for cleaning the ope-
nings of the screen also Let the sprout
screen dry after cleaning, even if you do
not have all of the screen openings clean
yet
2
phase: After the sprout screen and
nd
your brush have dried, you can brush out
the remaining root residue Do not use any
water to do this, though
Especially when you wish to cultivate
larger sprouts or grasses, you have an
astounding root system To speed up the
cleaning process, you can lay the provided
reusable white pads (9) under the seeds to
prevent the roots from growing into the
sprout screens
The sprout screens and the provided pads
are dishwasher safe Lay them on the
upper rack of the machine so the heating
element does not get them too hot
We recommend sterilising the sprout
screens to prevent mould To do so,
immerse the screens into a 3% hydrogen
peroxide solution (dilute the 3% H
to ten times, corresponding to 1-2 table-
spoons in one glass of water) or in hot –
not boiling – water Thoroughly rinse the
sprout screens after 10 minutes

4. Cleaning the sprout (5) and water
barrels (7)
Wash the inside of the sprout and water
barrels with hot water and washing-up
liquid Do not immerse the water barrel in
water – only clean the outside with a damp
cloth (water barrel and motor chamber (8)
are a unit!) You can sterilise both contai-
ners with hydrogen peroxide (diluted 5-10
times, see point 3), diluted bleach, or hot
water After leaving them in the solution
for 10 minutes, you should thoroughly
rinse out both parts of the appliance
5. Cleaning the green water tube (4)
Rinse out the water tube with hot running
water Pipe cleaners are well suited for
cleaning the inside of the water tube You
can also clean the turning device at the
end of the water pressure control tube (6)
using a washing-up brush or a toothbrush
6. Cleaning the sprinkler (2)
In the course of time, it is possible that
the sprinkler becomes clogged up with
seeds or other residue Tap all four sides
of the sprinkler on the table to loosen the
seeds so that they drop out Pipe cleaners
or cotton swabs are also suitable for clea-
ring up clogs in the sprinkler If necessary,
use a needle to free up the holes Cau-
tion: When sowing the seeds, they might
fall into the water barrel and get into the
sprinkler through the water tubes If you
notice seeds in the water barrel, change
the water so the sprinkler does not clog
Caution: When you sow the seeds it is possible
that some may fall into the water container (7)
and get into the sprinkler (2) through the water
pipes (4) If you notice any seeds in the water con-
tainer, replace the water in order to prevent the
sprinkler getting clogged
