8.1 FULL CLEANING PROCEDURE

at least one of the plastic covers
must be removed: depending on
the vehicle one or both covers are
not easily accessible and could
require detaching the unit from
the chassis. To remove the
covers, unscrew the Philips-head
screws keeping them in place,
and bend the cover slightly to
slide it out of the unit.

Never use any high-pressure jets of water or detergents on the plastic
components since they could be damaged permanently.
The grease on the mechanism must be applied by hand and any excess
must be wiped off: an excess of grease on surfaces can mix with dirt
from outside, and later shorten the lifespan of the product.

to clean the surfaces, use only
fresh water and wipe off any
residue of dirt and detergent. It is
very important to keep the guides
clean, since dirt could enter
between the components and
alter the performance of the
product.

the guides and sliders are
designed to work without the help
of a lubricant, but the lifespan in
particular weather conditions or
heavy use can be improved with
the use of a light coat of silicone-
based grease.
