8. Adding Fuel / Heating at Nominal

Thermal Output

More fuel should be added to the fire when the
flames from the previous burning off phase have
just gone out.

Adjust the combustion air.
Set air slider on position 2.
Lay two logs, weighing
around 1.7 kg in total, in
the furnace with the front
end facing forward, so
that there is still a 2-3 cm
gap to the left and the
right between them and
the furnace wall. Only add
a single layer of fuel.
Tab. 2
CAUTION!
If the layer of embers is completely cov-
ered by very thick logs, the wood cannot
ignite properly and there is a possibility of
deflagration.
9. Heating at Low Thermal Output
(during Transitional Seasons)
You can vary the thermal output of your Cartago by
adjusting the quantity of fuel used.
NOTE!
Do not attempt to slow down the com-
bustion by reducing the air supply. When
heating with wood, this can result in an
incomplete burning process and pose the
risk of an explosive like combustion of the
accumulated wood gases (deflagration).
