❐ Do not toast any bread or pastries that are buttered or covered with sugar or other
spreads or toppings which might melt. The device could be damaged by food which has
melted or even catch fi re!
❐ If bread or parts of the device catch fi re, do not try to extinguish them with water under any
circumstances. Remove the plug from the socket and smother the fl ames with a wet cloth.

Set-up and Connection

❐ Use the device only in enclosed spaces.
❐ Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat-resistant surface.
❐ The device may only be operated in an upright position, never on its side, tilted or upside down.
❐ Maintain a suffi cient distance from heat sources such as hobs or ovens in order not to
damage the device.
❐ Bread and baked items in toasters can catch fi re. For this reason you should not set the
toaster up close to or under fl ammable items or textiles such as curtains .
❐ Connect the device only to a properly installed socket with safety contacts. The power
socket must also be readily accessible after connection. The mains voltage must match the
technical specifi cations of the device. Use only proper extension leads whose technical
specifi cations match those of the device.
❐ Make sure that the connected mains lead is not a tripping hazard. Do not allow the cable
to hang over the edge of tables or kitchen counters. Others may become caught and pull
the device down.
❐ Position the cable in such a way that it does not become squashed or bent and does not
come into contact with hot surfaces.

Use

❐ Always check the device for damage before putting it into operation. If the device, the lead
or the plug is visibly damaged, the device must not be used. Do not use the device if it has
malfunctioned or fallen down.
❐ Do not carry out any repairs yourself if the device, the cable or plug is damaged. In the
event of any damage, contact our customer service department.
❐ Remove the mains plug from the mains socket
– when the device is not in use,
– if a fault occurs while the device is in operation,
– when you remove the crumb tray
– when there is a thunderstorm,
– before you clean it.
❐ When you want to remove the mains plug from the socket, always pull the plug and not
the cable.
❐ Never immerse the device in water or other liquids! Ensure that the device, cable and
plug do not fall into water or become wet. Should the device fall into water, switch off the
power supply immediately.
❐ Never touch the device, the cable or the plug with wet hands.
❐ Only use suitable baked items in the toaster.
