12.3 How to connect a gaming PC with Dolby Digital Live sound card

HR 1 head tracking receiver
Monitor
• With Headzone
®
Home you can use any PC game that supports multi-channel sound (surround)
and the Dolby Digital Live technology.
• Install into your PC a sound card that supports Dolby Digital Live (e.g. Terratec Aureon 7.1 PCI)
and select it as audio device.
• Connect the HBC 1 base station to the "Digital Audio" output of your Dolby Digital Live sound
card by using the supplied optical or coaxial S/PDIF cable.
• The multi-channel audio signal of your game is now encoded by your sound card into a Dolby
Digital stream and transmitted to the HBC 1 base station via the S/PDIF cable.
• It depends on the sound design of the game, whether the audio playback is in stereo,
Pro Logic or 5.1 Surround. You can see from the packaging of the game, if your game supports
multi-channel sound (surround), e.g. a Dolby Digital logo on the packaging.
• When using a sound card without Dolby Digital Live, the S/PDIF connection will emit a normal
stereo signal.
