®
remove bronchial secretions. The result is a reduction of
breathlessness and coughing in chronic respiratory disea-
ses such as:
1. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
2. Pulmonary emphysema
3. Cystic fibrosis
4. Smoker's cough
5. Asthma
6. Chronic bronchitis
7. Bronchiectasis
8. Diminished retraction force of the pulmonary tissue
Effectiveness of the RC-Cornet
• Widens airways to the pulmonary alveoli
• Reduces shortness of breath
• Removes irritating phlegm
• Prevents unproductive coughing
• Improves gas exchange
• Increases lung capacity
• Lowers airway resistance
• Reduces the number of hospital stays
and the need for antibiotics
The RC-Cornet
PLUS can also be combined with a nebulizer
®
(combined therapy / nebulizer configuration - see pages 22
and 23).
Physiological effects
The RC-Cornet
PLUS works through pressure variations
®
(oscillation) in the lower respiratory tract and widens it. It
detaches and liquefies bronchial mucus, making it easier to
remove it via coughing.
Contraindications
Presence of pneumothorax, blood-expectorating cough
(massive hemoptysis), and intracranial pressure symptoms
> 20 mm Hg.
The RC-Cornet
PLUS should only be used after discussion
®
with the doctor treating you if the following are present:
• Severe cardiovascular disease
• Acute thrombosis
• Acute coughing up of blood (hemoptysis)
• Surgery or injury to the mouth, face, skull, or esophagus

near the tracheostoma
The following relative contraindication should be discussed
with your treating healthcare professional:

Side effects
Hyperventilation (rapid breathing) may occasionally cause

To lower the noise level of the therapy, close off the body holes
with your hand. Please note that this hand position is only
possible in a stabilized PEP (setting I).
