Model railway tracks
Occupancy detector
Track voltage
The feedback module LR101 not only evaluates the information supplied by the
occupancy detectors LB100/LB101 but also the information supplied by one or
several voltage detectors LB050. If the LR101 detects an interruption in the track
voltage, the most recent occupancy status will be 'frozen'.
Example:
A power consumer (e.g. a locomotive) is located in a track section. Since current
is flowing, the LB100/LB101 transmits the information 'occupied' to the LR101. If
the track voltage is interrupted for some reason, so is the current flow and the
LB100/LB101 will transmit the information 'not occupied' when, in fact, this does
not reflect the actual track status. Thanks to the voltage detector LB050, however,
the LR101 has concluded that there is no track voltage. It therefore 'knows' that it
may not transmit the LB100/LB101's information 'not occupied' to the command
station.
Skilful combination of these pieces of information prevents transmission of faulty
messages to the command station in case of a voltage interruption or short-
circuit.
The command station queries the information of all connected feedback modules
LR101/100. This procedure takes approx. 30msec. Only those LR101/100 whose
