4.3 Assembling the ventilation unit
4.3.1 Preparation for retrofitting a ventilation unit
If the ventilation unit is to be retrofitted, punch the holes in

the suit material.

Position of the holes:
With the CPS 6900 and CPS 7900, the correct position of

the holes is marked on the inside at the bottom of the right
chest part.
With the CPS 5900 PT the position is also on the inside at

the bottom of the right chest part. The exact position,
however, needs to be determined.
Centre vertical position:

at the level of the integrated hip belt
Centre horizontal position:

approx. 220 mm right from the middle chest seam
4.3.2 Assembly of ventilation unit
Assemble the ventilation unit on the chemical protection suit as
follows:
1. Inspect all parts visually. Replace any damaged parts.
2. If required (e. g. for retrofitting), connect the compressed-
air hose on the inside of the suit with the ventilation unit
(tightening torque: 12 +2 Nm).
3. Place seal washers (1) on the screws (2).
4. Put the washers (3) underneath on both sides of the chem-
ical protection suit (4), in the intended position.
5. If the chemical protection suit is to be used in accordance
with vfdb, position the cover plate on the outside in such a
way that it is fastened into place when the ventilation unit is
screwed together.
6. Position the two halves of the ventilation unit and screw
them together using the screws (2) on the inside of the suit
(tightening torque: 4 +1 Nm).

5 Disposal
The ventilation unit must be disposed of in accordance with the
applicable waste disposal regulations.
