Functional description
The Dräger Air-connect is a ventilation unit for chemical pro-
tection suits. An external air supply (e. g. a compressed-air
hose device) is connected to the plug nipple. Air is fed through
the ventilation unit into the inside of the suit, and via a com-
pressed-air hose to the face piece. A hip belt is threaded
through the strap and serves as strain relief.

Intended use
The ventilation unit is used to provide the wearer of the chem-
ical protection suit with additional breathing air. For example,
this can be necessary during decontamination.
2.4
Approvals
The ventilation unit is approved for use with the Dräger
chemical protection suits CPS 5900 PT, CPS 6900 and
CPS 7900. It meets the corresponding standards and
guidelines.
Notes for chemical protection suits approved in accordance
with vfdb 0801 : 2006-11:
The ventilation unit must be covered using a cover plate.
The ventilation unit may only be used during cleaning and
decontamination.
An automatic switch-over valve (ASV) must be used be-
tween the ventilation unit and the compressed air breathing
apparatus.
The external air supply may only be connected to the ven-
tilation unit if it has been ensured that the connection is free
from hazardous substances.
If a compressed-air hose device is connected, respiratory
protection monitoring must be continued.
The compressed-air hose must be positioned in the chem-
ical protection suit in such a way that it does not restrict the
freedom of movement of the person wearing the device.
