Presence detector 360°, type 41-340
Operation
The model 41-340 Presence detector 360° is a 24V sensor
with a control switch, developed to be mounted to ceilings to
control indoor lighting, particularly in connection with Building
Management Systems / Intelligent Building Installation.
The sensor is suitable for connection with these systems, either
as a single sensor or in the form of several sensors in parallel,
whichever is required.
Area of application:
Generally used indoors in buildings.
Function
Relay output:
The relay output is connected when the integrated movement
sensor registers people in the sensor's detection range.
Parallel connection of the relay output is decided by the nature
of the premises.
The integrated cut-out delay, 1-30 minutes, ensures that the
relay output is connected until the sensor no longer registers any
activity, and the cut-out delay expires. In conjunction with BMS/
IBI systems we recommend that the cut-out delay be set at the
minimum setting of 1 minute (factory setting).
Light output 0-10 V:
The integrated light sensor measures the current light level
constantly. The light level is converted to a control signal of 0-10
VDC as a function of the lux range of 30 - 3000 lx.
If more than one sensor is fi tted in the same premises, the light
signal is selected from the sensor that is in the best position with
regard to natural daylight conditions.
Installation
Location:
The Presence detector 360° is designed to be mounted to the
ceiling. At a height of 2.5 m the sensor will cover a fl oor area
with a diameter of 20 m and provide a full 360º coverage for
movement of people.
The Presence detector 360° has a special lens area in the
centre with a diameter of 5 metres, with more than 618 fi elds
guaranteeing optimal detection of even very slight movements.

The Presence detector 360° is designed to be mounted to the
ceiling at a standard height of 2.5-3.4 m, and is positioned over
a desk, typically 1 m away from the seat, if you wish to register
small movements.
The sensor has a specially developed optical function with two
detection ranges, a close range (A + B) to detect small movements
and a distant range (C + D) to detect movement of people. This
combination provides excellent control of lighting, while at the
same time guaranteeing the best possible energy saving.
Limiting the detection range:
If the coverage area is too large, it is a good idea to limit it by
fi tting the enclosed cover. This enables the maximum reach of Ø20
metres to be reduced to Ø12 metres, Ø5 metres or Ø3 metres,
and the angle of 360º can be reduced in increments of 45º.
Installation:
a) If the Presence detector 360° is mounted directly to the ceiling,
holes at intervals of 105 mm can be used. Please note that the
cable input is turned 45º in relation to the fi xing holes.
b) If the Presence detector 360° is mounted to a ceiling box, the
holes located for this purpose at intervals of 60 mm are used,
and the base opening is punched out. Guide in the lead/cable
correctly and carefully.
Please note that all installation work must take place with the
mains voltage disconnected. For lead connections, see under
Fig. 5
It is recommended that the PIR Sensor is not installed
where it is exposed to direct sunlight, air fl ows from air
conditioning, radiators, etc.
Connection:
a) Read the WHOLE installation and user manual.
b) Switch off all power.
c) Supply voltage is provided through terminals 3 and 4
24V DC
(
).

---
d) Connection to the relay output is through terminals 1 and 2
(
).
e) Connection to the 0-10 V control signal is through terminals
0-10V
---
4 and 5 (
).
f) The power up period means that the lighting and the inte
grated indicator (LED) are always switched on for one minute
(stabilisation time).
Connection chart:
Please note! You must never connect a control signal of more
than 0-10 V for the parallel connection of sensors.
Assembling the sensor:
a) Press the sensor part up into the terminal array in the base,
and fi t the locking screw Pozidriv (PZ) 0 / Phillips (PH) 1.
b) The Presence detector 360° is set and tested as described in
Fig. 7.
c) The coverage area is reduced as described in Fig. 2.
d) Fit the Sensor's cover.
