Installation (continued)
4.3

Affixing the cover strip

To protect the magnetic tape from damage caused by
chips or chemicals, you may cover it using a stainless steel
cover strip (accessory).
Before affixing the cover strip, carefully clean the surface of
the magnetic tape (turpentine, mild plastic cleaner, no
acetone or benzine).
Marking the reference point
Mark the reference point on the right edge of
the slide rail before affixing the cover strip!
Procedure is identical to that for affixing the magnetic
tape. As soon as the cover strip is fully affixed, check
whether the slide smoothly glides over the entire slide rail.

Fastening the BML-S_B-..., BML-S1C-..., or
BML-S_E-... sensor head in the BML-C01
slide
1. Place the sensor head in the slide so that the cable is
on the opposite side of the ball head (Fig. 4-7).
2. Slightly tighten the sensor head using the supplied
screws.
3. Insert the slide in the correct position (Fig. 4-5) in the
rail.
4. Slide the supplied clearance gauge from the front
under the slide and place it on the magnetic tape
(Fig. 4-8, Fig. 4-9).
5. From the top, slightly press the sensor head on the
clearance gauge and tighten the mounting screws
(max. torque for M3x14-8.8 cylinder screws 0.7 Nm
acc. to DIN 912). The correct distance between the
sensor head and magnetic tape is now set.
Securing the screws
Secure the screws using screw lock lacquer.
6. Pull the clearance gauge out and check whether the
slide smoothly glides over the entire rail.

Deterioration
In operation, the gap between the sensor head and
magnetic tape can change. This can cause the material
to deteriorate.
f After a maximum of 5,000 km travel, check the gap
and reset the distance if deviating.
