Speedaire
Compressor Pump Parts Kits
Description
Repair parts kits are for use with Speedaire 5, 7
compressors. Valve and o-ring rebuild kits include head and cylinder o-rings, valve
plate assembly and o-rings. Overhaul kits include everything in the valve and
o-ring rebuild kits plus a complete set of piston rings.
Unpacking
When unpacking kit, carefully inspect
for any damage that may have
occurred during transit. Verify all parts
are on hand before beginning repair.
General Safety Information
Disconnect power. Release
all pressure from the sys-
tem before attempting to
install, service, relocate or perform any
maintenance.
1. Read all manuals includ-
ed with this kit carefully
before beginning repairs.
2. Keep guards in good
condition and in place at all times.
3. Follow all local electrical and safety
codes, the United States National
Electric Code (NEC) and the Occupa-
tional Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
4. Electric motors should
be securely and ade-
quately grounded.
5. Do not kink power
cable or allow the cable to come in
contact with oil, grease, chemical or
sharp objects.

6. Do not exceed the pressure limits
for any component in the system.
7. Check air hoses for weak or worn
condition before each use.
8. Inspect to make sure that all fittings,
bolts, etc,. are tight and secure.

and pilot valve settings are preset at the
factory for normal operating conditions.
Altering the settings will result in com-
pressor and motor damage.
Procedures
VALVE AND O-RING REPAIR KIT
MANUAL
1. Remove air filter.
2. Disconnect discharge tube at the
tank. Disconnect tube fittings from
side of pump head by removing the
three screws from each tube fitting.
3. Remove head bolts and belt guard
bracket (if present).
4. Remove head and valve plate
assembly from cylinder.
5. Clean old o-ring material from head
and top of cylinder block.
6. Install new valve plate assembly and
o-rings.

7. Reinstall head bolts and washers to
torque value specified in torque chart.
8. Reinstall discharge tube at the tank
and tube fittings using new o-rings
supplied in kit.
9. Reinstall air filter.
10. Change oil.
OVERHAUL KIT
1. Follow steps 1-5 from valve and o-
ring repair kit.
2. Remove cylinder/crankcase bolt and
washers.
3. Pull cylinder block off the crankcase
Do not attempt to
change the settings to expose pistons.
4. Clean old o-ring material from cylin-
der and crankcase.
5. Remove oil piston rings.
6. Install new piston rings as shown in
Figure 1. NOTE: Ends of expander
ring must be butted together, DO
NOT overlap.
