4.4- Grinding Disk Assembly or replacement
1. To be able to install the disk, proceed as follows:
- unscrew the screws (a) of the protective guard (14) (See Fig.3)
- unscrew the ancillary flange (b) supporting the grinding disk (Fig.4).
- remove existing grinding disk (13) (if any) from the spindle (c).
2. Then you can insert the grinding disk (13) in the body from below.
3. Ensure that the ancillary flange (b) and the disk (13) fit precisely
against each other and screw tightly.
4. Do not tighten the flange (b) too much to avoid damage to the disk.
The grinding disk torque tightening force to the hub is 7Nm. Where
practicable, use a torque spanner.
5. Now, fit back the protective guard (14) and tightly screw back the
screws ("a" in Fig.3).
6. Check the correct bottoming of the disk: the grinding disk should
rotate freely, it should not move across and lengthwise.
7. Now, with the grinding disk properly installed, a trial run may be
performed. Stand on the side of the machine and watch out for
anybody dwelling in the working area.
Connect to power supply and switch on the machine, let the disk rotate
with no load to check that disk does rotate freely and that there is no
abnormal noise or vibration.
If the grinding disk is vibrating or shows otherwise incorrect run, promptly switch off and unplug the
machine before attempting to clear the fault.
8. Using a sharpening stone and a clamping plate, it is possible to sharpen the disk so as to obtain the
required profile. In this case, be careful at work so as not to damage the disk.
4.5- Starting and Stopping (ON/OFF switching)
The switch is located on the top of the machine (see Fig.5).
To start the machine: press the switch [I].
To stop the machine: press the switch [0].
IMPORTANT: Before connecting the tool to a power source or in case of
voltage failure or shortage, make sure the switch is in the OFF position, in
order to avoid a hazard.
4.6- Grinding
Make sure that the saw-chain sharpener is secured appropriately to avoid slipping out.
Notes: - Raise the top housing (arm) before placing & while adjusting the chain.
- Clean the chain before sharpening it.
4.6.1- Installing the chain (Fig.6)
1. The chain should be properly laid between both guide plates (10).
2. Loosen the setting knob (9)
3. Lift the chain link stopper (12).
4. Place the cutting chain in the guide rail between the guide plates (10).
5. Tighten the setting knob (9).
6. Lower the chain stopper (12) onto the link and pull the chain towards the back until the cutting link
rests against the stopper.
