a) Information on DCF Reception
The weather station is able to receive and as-
sess the so-called DCF signal.
This is a signal sent by a station in Mainflingen
(near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is up to
1500 km, and under perfect reception conditions
even up to 2000 km.
Among others, the DCF signal contains the pre-
cise time and date.
Of course, the tedious switching between sum-
mer and winter time manually can also be dis-
pensed with.
Important for proper DCF signal recognition:
never place the weather station next to electrical/electronic devices (TV, mobile
phones, computers, etc.) and not near any cables, power sockets or metal parts.
Bad reception can also be expected, e.g. in case of metallised insulation glass
windows, reinforced concrete construction, coated special wallpaper or basement
rooms.
Automatic synchronisation is performed daily at night, at 02:03 a.m. and 03:03 a.m. A single
perfect reception per day is sufficient to keep the daily accuracy deviation of the integrated
quartz clock at less than 1 second.
The time and date can be entered manually in difficult reception positions (e.g. in
a reinforced concrete building or a basement room).
You can also perform another reception attempt for the DCF signal.
