Installing and Adjusting Sanding Platen and
Belt
1. Disconnect cord from the power source.
2. Move the upper blade guide assembly up to its highest
position.
3. Position the upper and lower blade guides and the
upper and lower support bearings away from the
blade as far as possible.
4. Remove blade. See steps in "Changing Blades" section.
5. Remove the thumbscrew and blade guide from the
upper blade guide assembly as shown.
6. Find the following items in the loose parts bag:
1
M6 x 1-10 Hex Head Bolt
1
M6 Flat Washer
1
Sanding Platen

7. Mount the sanding platen to blade guide holder as
shown with hex head bolt and flat washer. (Do not
tighten yet!)
8. Install sanding belt. (Be sure arrows shown on the
back of the belt are pointing down as it runs past the

platen.)

9. Turn the blade tension knob clockwise to increase
tension until indicator is at the "S" setting. This is the
correct tension for the sanding belt.
10. Under the table, push the left hand blade guide
toward platen moving it as far to the right that it will
move then tighten the thumbscrew to hold the blade
guide in place.
11. Rotate the upper wheel by hand to check that sanding
belt is centered between the platen tabs. If not, adjust
the guide assemblies as required to center the belt.
12. Rotate the guard under the table back into place.
Insert screwdriver through insert hole to tighten the
screw.

15. Close the upper and lower wheel covers.
CAUTION: To reduce the risk of trapping the work
or fingers between the table and sanding surface,
the table should be repositioned (at all angles of
sanding) to retain a maximum of 1/16 inch distance
between sanding surface and table insert.
16. Set the table at the desired sanding angle and tighten
the bevel adjusting knobs. Move the upper end of the
platen to reduce the gap to 1/16 inch, adjust the gap
between the insert and the sanding belt by following
these steps:
a. Loosen the six trunnion bolts under the table as
shown.
b. Adjust the gap width by moving the table towards
or away from the sanding belt as required to obtain
the 1/16 inch maximum gap.
c. Retighten the six trunnion bolts and readjust the
platen.
