Do not lay cables which are loose or bent next to electrically conduc-
tive material (metal).
Protect cables from sharp edges.
CH4000E, CH6000E only: Install an all-pole switch with a contact
opening width of at least 3 mm on the installation side for the AC sup-
ply (230 V).
If the device is powered by the mains (CH4000E, CH6000E only):
ensure that the AC voltage supply has a residual current circuit
breaker.
Notes on connection with a solar system
A
NOTICE! Risk of damage
The electronic of the device can be damaged by an irregular
voltage supply from the solar system.
Always use a voltage regulator or a battery with charger reg-
ulator between the device and the solar panel according to
EN 1648.
Mounting and connecting the device
1. Mount the device according to fig. d, page 4.
2. Mount the control panel according to fig. e, page 4 to fig. g,
page 5.
3. Install the exhaust duct and cowl according to fig. i, page 5 to
fig. l, page 6.
Guide the exhaust duct directly after the unit in a curve to the side
or upwards according to fig. h, page 5. This helps to prevent rat-
tling and reduce noise.
Fix exhaust duct at least every 50 cm (fig. h, page 5) using
clamps (accessory).
4. Install the warm air ducts according to fig. m, page 6 and fig. n,
page 6.
5. Observe water connection scheme: fig. o, page 6.
6. Mount the safety and drain valve and connect to cold water supply
according to fig. p, page 6 to fig. q, page 7.
7. Connect the hot water outlet according to fig. r, page 7.
8. Connect the venting hose according to fig. s, page 7.
9. Ensure that the operating pressure of the gas supply and the device
are the same, see data plate.
10. Connect to the gas supply according to fig. t, page 7.
11. Connect the device to power supply according to fig. u, page 7.
You can use D+ connection if no safety shut-off device (according
to UN ECE regulation 122) is installed.
Make sure that at least 12 V is available at the device.

Initial start-up

1. Attach the supplied sticker with warnings in a clearly visible place on
the heater or inside the vehicle, e. g. on the wardrobe door.
2. If data plate is no more accessible after installation, attach the accom-
panied data plate (copy) to a place close to the device that is accessi-
ble.
3. After installation, have the tightness of the gas supply line checked by
a specialist, using the pressure drop method, and a test certificate
issued (in Germany, e.g. in accordance with DVGW worksheet
G 607).
4. Set value for under voltage alarm according to fig. v, page 7.
EN
5. Set the following settings (see operation manual):
max. fan speed in silent mode
min. fan speed in ventilation mode.
6. Mark the year of installation on the data plate.
7. Supply the owner of the vehicle with the operating manual.
8. Check all functions of the device, especially the emptying of the
water heater.
When a brand-new device is initially put into operation, smoke and odours
may develop for a short time.
➤ In this case, ensure that the interior is well ventilated and operate the
appliance for a few minutes at the highest temperature level for self-
cleaning:
set room temperature to max. value
choose auto mode for air heating
choose hot mode for water heating.

Replacing fuses

!
WARNING!
Before servicing or changing the fuses, switch off the device,
shut the gas supply and disconnect DC (12 V) supply.
CH4000E, CH6000E only: Disconnect the AC (230 V)
supply.
➤ Replace broken DC fuses according to fig. w, page 8. Only use fuses
with the same value.

Cleaning and maintaining

➤ Clean the device according to fig. x, page 8.
➤ Never use detergents containing chlorine for cleaning and disinfec-
tion.
➤ Perform self-cleaning once a week: see chapter "Self-cleaning" on
page 11.
➤ If side cowl is positioned below a window: Check window switch
operation as a pre trip or seasonal check.
➤ Check regularly, especially after long journeys, that the cowl and the
exhaust duct are intact and correctly fixed.
➤ Operate the safety and drain valve regularly, at least twice a year, to
remove limescale deposits and ensure proper function.
➤ Have the heater, its gas supply and ducting for the products of com-
bustion checked by an expert in accordance with national regulations
(e.g. in Germany every 2 years). If no national regulations exist that
should be done at least every 2 years. The inspection must be certified
on a test certificate (e.g. DVGW Work Sheet G 607 for vehicles in Ger-
many).
Self-cleaning
To clean the system against bacteria operate the heater for a few minutes
at the highest temperature level for self-cleaning:
1. Set room temperature to max. value.
2. Choose auto mode
3. Choose hot mode for water heating.
