6.7 Fouls
Fouls on the cup
1. The motto is: 'The cup is untouchable!'
True to this motto, the players of both teams are not allowed to touch the
cups during the match!
Permitted exceptions are, of course, when one of the teams performs a
re-rack or a hit cup is taken from the table to drink it empty.
2. If a cup is touched or knocked over during play and none of the exceptions
in 7.1 apply, the cup must be drunk and is automatically out of play.
Fouls with the ball
3. If the opposing team makes contact with the ball during an ongoing turn
without the ball having touched the beer pong table (i.e. an 'air shot' is
executed), this is considered a foul.
Consequence: The disadvantaged team may choose a cup from the
opposing team. This must be drunk by the fouling team and is then out of
the game.
Fouls and influences of bystanders
4. If a spectator touches the ball or if the play is manipulated by external,
game-changing and uncontrollable events, a re-take shall be called.
6.8 End of game
1. The game is over as soon as one team has managed to hit the last cup of
the opposing team.
2. However, the losing team still has the chance to hit the team's remaining
cups in direct return ('rebuttal').
Procedure: The players try to sink the cups one after the other. They may
continue throwing until they do not hit a cup. If the first player misses the
first time, his or her partner gets the same chance. If this does not succeed,
the team has lost for good. If they manage to hit all the cups, the game goes
into overtime.
3. If the defeat is sealed, the losing team must drink the remaining cups of
their own and the cups of the opponent. It is up to the team to decide who
drinks how many cups.
