WARNING: Only use hydraulic cylinders in a coupled
system. Never use a cylinder with unconnected couplers. If
the cylinder becomes extremely overloaded, components
can fail catastrophically causing severe personal injury.
WARNING: BE SURE SETUP IS STABLE BEFORE
LIFTING LOAD. Cylinders should be placed on a flat
surface that can support the load. Where applicable, use a
cylinder base for added stability. Do not weld or otherwise
modify the cylinder to attach a base or other support.
Avoid situations where loads are not directly centered on
the
cylinder
plunger.
considerable strain on cylinders and plungers. In addition,
the load may slip or fall, causing potentially dangerous results.
Distribute the load evenly across the entire saddle surface.
Always use a saddle to protect the plunger.
IMPORTANT: Hydraulic equipment must only be serviced
by a qualified hydraulic technician. For repair service,
contact the Authorized ENERPAC Service Center in your
area. To protect your warranty, use only ENERPAC oil.
WARNING: Immediately replace worn or damaged parts by
genuine ENERPAC parts. Standard grade parts will break
causing personal injury and property damage. ENERPAC
parts are designed to fit properly and withstand high loads.
3.0 DESCRIPTION
3.1 Applications
Enerpac Twin Air pumps provide 10,000 PSI hydraulic
power in many applications where compressed air is either
a convenient power source or required for safety reasons.
Pumps with roll bars are used in construction applications.
3.2 Specifications
Air Pressure: 60-100 PSI
Air Consumption: 18 CFM
Oil Flow at 100 PSI Air: 650 cu.in./min. @ 0 PSI
4.0 INSTALLATION
Read all instructions carefully before attempting to
assemble or operate your hydraulic equipment. Most
malfunctions in new equipment are the result of improper
operation and/or assembly.
WARNING:
Failure to follow these and other
instructions may result in equipment damage and/or
personal injury.
4.1 Preliminary Procedure
The following instructions will help you set up your
hydraulic circuit safely:
1. DO NOT exceed capability of equipment attached to
pump. Use a gauge in-line from the pump and be sure
pump relief valve setting is below lowest rated pressure
for your equipment.
2. DO NOT connect pump to systems that can return more
oil to the reservoir than the reservoir can hold.
3. Be sure all hoses and fittings are connected to the
proper inlet and outlet ports of the pump and cylinders.
Off-center
loads
9 cu.in./min. @10,000 PSI
Make sure all hose connections are properly mated
and secured.
4. Tighten all hydraulic couplers fully. Loose coupler
connections will cause complete or partial blockage of
oil flow from the pump.
DO NOT over-tighten connections. Connections need
only be snug and leak free. Over-tightening promotes
thread failure and may cause high pressure fittings or
castings to split at lower than rated capacity.
5. DO NOT TAMPER WITH OVERLOAD VALVE.
produce
Maximum hydraulic pressure is 10,000 PSI.
WARNING: Adjustment by other than qualified
personnel may cause malfunction and/or damage and
lead to personal injury.
6. Prevent accidental operation.
CAUTION: Disconnect air supply when pump is not in
use. Do not remove air connector while air line is
pressurized.
7. Check for safe system setups. Make sure that your air
pump, connecting hoses, etc. are protected from any
external source of damage, such as: excessive heat,
flame, moving machine parts, sharp edges, falling
objects, corrosive chemicals, dropping, etc.
4.2 Installing Hydraulic Gauge
1. Apply sealant to threads on pressure gauge, NPT hose
fitting, and gauge adaptor. Make connections as shown
in Figure 1.
NOTE: When making hydraulic connections, use high
quality sealing compound only on the threads of the
male NPT fittings. If you use Teflon tape, do not tape the
first thread. Use tape sparingly. Loose Teflon tape in
your pump or cylinder can cause malfunctions and
damage. Wrap tape so that it tightens upon assembly.
(Clockwise with the threads facing you.)
2. Couple the other end of the hose (male high flow
coupler) to an hydraulic cylinder or tool. Turn collar on
female half of coupler finger tight only. No tools are
needed to make this connection.
4.3 Filling the Reservoir
1. Make sure all cylinders are fully retracted and air supply
is disconnected.
2. Remove breather/fill plug and fill reservoir to about 1/2
inch from the top. (See Figure 2)
CAUTION: USE ONLY Enerpac hydraulic oil. The use
of other oil may cause damage. Such damage is not
covered by warranty.
