INSTALLATION
POTENTIALLY FATAL DANGER due to electrical
voltage!
The switchgear must be connected and
switched on in order to read the currently set
value on the display. There is a risk of fatal
injury due to electric shock! The connection
must only be carried out by a qualified electri-
cian using an insulated screwdriver!
6.4.4. Winding temperature monitoring connection
(Fig. 3, item 4a/4b)
One temperature monitoring must be connected
to each connected pump by means of a bimetallic
strip.
Connect the wires to the terminal strip according
to the connection diagram:
• Pumps outside of potentially explosive areas:
• Pump 1: 37 and 38
• Pump 2: 39 and 40
• Pumps within potentially explosive areas
(zone 1 and 2):
• Pump 1: 57 and 58
• Pump 2: 59 and 60
NOTICE
• No external voltage may be applied!
• When connecting pumps within potentially ex-
plosive areas, the "Ex-mode" must be activated
to ensure anti-reactivation!
6.4.5. Leakage detection connection (Fig. 3, item 4a)
A moisture probe can be connected to each con-
nected pump for leakage detection. The threshold
value is stored in the switchgear.
Connect the wires to the terminal strip according
to the connection diagram:
• Pump 1: 49 and 50
• Pump 2: 51 and 52
NOTICE
• No external voltage may be applied!
• Terminals 50 and 52 must be connected to the
earth terminal for moisture assessments which
use protective earth as the reference earth!
6.4.6. Connection for level measurement signal
transmitter (Fig. 4)
Level measurement can be performed via 3 float
switches, a level sensor or a dynamic pressure bell
("IPS" version only). Connection of electrodes is
not possible!
Insert the cable laid on-site through the threaded
cable connections and secure it.
Connect the wires to the terminal strip according
to the connection diagram:
• Float switch:
• Pump 1 on: 29 and 30
• Pump 2 on: 31 and 32
• Pumps off: 27 and 28
• Level sensor:
Installation and operating instructions Salmson-Control EC-L
• Measurement range: 4 – 20 mA
• Terminal 45: - (minus)
• Terminal 46: + (plus)
• Dynamic pressure bell:
• Pressure range: 0 – 250 mBar
• Connection: Hose connection with clamp
bolting
1. Loosen and twist off the union nut from the
pressure connection.
2. Insert a union nut on the pressure hose of the
dynamic pressure bell.
3. Push the pressure hose onto the pressure
connection as far as it will go.
4. Screw the union nut back onto the pressure con-
nection and tighten it to fasten the pressure hose.
NOTICE
• No external voltage may be applied!
• A max. of 2 pumps can be actuated with level
measurement using a float switch.
• A max. of 3 pumps can be actuated with level
measurement using a level sensor or dynamic
pressure bell.
6.4.7. Connection of dry-running protection through
separate float switch (Fig. 4)
Level of the dry-running protection can be mon-
itored via a potential-free contact by means of
a separate float switch. The terminals are fitted
with a converter bridge in the factory.
Insert the cables laid on-site through the thread-
ed cable connection and secure them.
Remove the converter bridge and connect the
wires to the terminal strip according to the con-
nection diagram.
• Contact:
• Terminals (signal transmitter outside of poten-
tially explosive areas): 25 and 26
• Terminals (signal transmitter within potentially
explosive areas of zones 1 and 2):55 and 56
• Closed: No dry run
• Open: Dry run
NOTICE
• No external voltage may be applied!
• We recommend dry-running protection always
be provided as additional fuse protection for the
unit.
• The "Ex-mode" (menu 5.64) must be activated
when connecting signal transmitters within
potentially explosive areas and the connection
must be set up with the correct terminal (Fig. 3,
item 4b) to ensure that the dry-running protec-
tion works properly!
6.4.8. Connection of the high water alarm using a
separate float switch (Fig. 4)
High water level can be determined and a high
water alarm can be realised via a potential-free
contact using a separate float switch.
Insert the cables laid on-site through the thread-
ed cable connection and secure them.
