MAINTENANCE
To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, mainte-
nance and adjustment (including brush inspection and replace-
ment) should be performed by authorized service centers or other
qualified service organizations, always using identical replacement
parts.
Changing the Blade
Remove the battery pack before making any adjustments to
the saw.
1. Depress the blade lock button while turning the blade clamping
screw with the hex wrench provided. The screw is reverse-
threaded; clockwise turns loosen the screw.
2. Remove the blade clamping screw and
the outer clamp washer and blade.
3. Replace the blade, keeping the printed
side facing out. Make sure that the
teeth at the bottom of the blade point
forward.
4. Place the outer clamp washer against
the blade with the flat side facing out
and the indented side toward the blade.
5. Thread the blade clamping screw on firmly by hand. The screw is
reverse-threaded; counterclockwise turns tighten the screw.
6. Depress the blade lock button (D) and turn the spindle until the
blade stops rotating.
7. Keeping the blade lock button (D) depressed,
tighten the blade clamping screw with the
hex wrench provided.
WARNING: Never depress the blade lock
button while the saw is running. Never turn on
the saw while the blade lock is engaged. Serious damage to your
saw will result.
Replacing Sight Window
The sight window must be replaced by an authorized D
service center.
WARNING: Do not operate the saw with a damaged or miss-
ing sight or front window. If window is damaged or missing, have
the saw serviced at an authorized service center. If the saw is oper-
ated without the window, metal chips could fly through the guard
and cause personal injury.
Cleaning
Use only mild soap and a damp cloth to clean the tool. Many
household cleaners contain chemicals which could seriously dam-
age plastic. Also, do not use gasoline, turpentine, lacquer or paint
thinner, dry cleaning fluids or similar products. Never let any liquid
get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool in a liquid.
Do not use any cleaning fluids on the sight window or the front win-
dow to avoid clouding them and compromising the safe operation
of the saw. Use compressed air to remove accumulated dust from
the inside of the sight and front windows.
Lubrication
Self lubricating ball and roller bearings are used in the tool and relu-
brication is not required. We recommend that you take or send the
tool to a certified service center for a thorough cleaning, inspection,
and lubrication of the gear case annually, depending on how much
you use the tool.
D
Accessories
Recommended accessories for use with your tool are available at
extra cost from you local service center. Use only 6 3/4" DEWALT
metal Cutting Blades with a 20 mm arbor.
