Instructions for use and maintenance SATA air star C
9. Markings
All parts essential for functioning can be identifi ed by means of their part number. Exhalation
membranes and mask body are furthermore marked with the date of manufacture.
The diaphragm features a marking containing fi gures and dots - example: 98 and 3 dots
means: 1998 plus 3 years is production year 2001. The mask body also has a date clock with
year indication. The arrow indicates the month.
The CE marking is located on the inside of the mask body and is supplemented by the
number 0158, which indicates the authorised authority Deutsche Montan Technologie GmbH,
Zertifi zierungstelle für Atemschutz, Am Technologie Park 1 D-45307 Essen, Germany, which
carried out the CE-certifi cation and also takes on the production supervision according to
para 11A of the Directive 89/686/CE.
Below the CE marking is the reference to the European standard EN140:1998, which is
mandatory for fulfi lment of the CE certifi cation.
10. Repairs
Defective or worn out parts must be immediately replaced, but only if the operating instruc-
tions list the item concerned as a spare part. Otherwise, the respirator must be returned
for repair.
Warning: If spare parts are required, only use original spare parts from SATA.
The membrane of the exhalation valve is removable. The inhaling valve can be drawn over
the plastic pin of the connecting piece. Ensure that the valve membrane is not torn when
it is returned. A performance and leakage test must be completed after parts that influence
the air-tightness of the half mask have been exchanged. The respirator will only function
safely if the activated charcoal cartridge has been correctly and completely inserted in the
filter case.
