Operating Instructions and Parts Manual
Important Safety Information (Continued)

PersonaL saFety

a. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating the unit. Do not use the unit
while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or
medication. A moment of inattention while operating the
unit increases the risk of injury to persons.
b. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.
Contain long hair. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair
increases the risk of injury to persons as a result of being
caught in moving parts.
c. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. Proper footing and balance
enables better control of the unit in unexpected
situations.
d. Use safety equipment. A dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes and a hard hat must be used for the
applicable conditions. Wear safety glasses and
use hearing protection when operating the unit.
Ensuring that the unit is used
only when the operator and all
other personnel in the work area are wearing ANSI Z87
eye protection equipment, and when required, other
appropriate protection equipment such as head, hearing
and foot protection equipment. Serious eye or permanent hearing
loss could result.

use and care

a. Do not stand on or use the unit as a handhold.
b. Always work in a well-ventilated area. Wear OSHA-
approved dust mask.
c. Do not remove any labels from the unit.
Never use plastic (PVC) pipe for
compressed air. Serious injury or
death could result.
Drain tank every day to prevent
corrosion and possible injury due
to tank damage. Risk of bursting.
d. Tanks rust from moisture build-up, which weakens
the tank. Make sure to drain tank regularly and inspect
periodically for unsafe conditions such as rust formation
and corrosion.
e. Fast moving air will stir up dust and debris which may
be harmful. Release air slowly when draining moisture or
depressurizing the compressor system.
Never fill the tank above 150 psi. Personal
injury or property damage could occur.
Never fill from bottled gas or any air system
which produces over 150 psi.
f. Do not alter or tamper with the safety relief valve. In
the event that the safety relief valve is tampered with,
existing warranties shall be voided and Campbell Hausfeld
disclaims any liability whatsoever for any loss, personal
injury or damage.
NEVER attempt to repair or modify a tank.
Welding, drilling or any other modification
will weaken the tank resulting in damage from rupture or explosion.
Always replace worn, damaged or cracked tanks.
g. Release air pressure from air tank by pulling safety relief
ring before servicing or replacing parts.
Safety glasses must be worn
during operation.
h. For dry air only. Do not use to store or disperse
liquids or flammable gases.
i. Store inside. Do not store outside or in direct sunlight.
j. Only use attachments rated at 150 psi minimum.
k. Check air hoses for weak or worn condition before
each use. Make sure all connections are secure. Check all
fasteners at frequent intervals for proper tightness.
l. Before each use, inspect compressed air system and
electrical components for signs of damage, deterioration,
weakness or leakage. Repair or replace defective items
before using.
Motors, electrical equipment and
controls can cause electrical arcs
that will ignite a flammable gas or vapor. Never operate
or repair in or near a flammable gas or vapor. Never
store flammable liquids or gases in the vicinity of the
compressor.
Compressor parts may be hot even
if the unit is stopped.
m. If the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, STOP
the engine/motor and check immediately for the cause.
Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
An ASME code safety relief valve with a
setting no higher than 165 psi MUST be
installed in the tank for this compressor. The ASME safety valve must
have sufficient flow and pressure ratings to protect the pressurized
components from bursting.
See compressor specification decal for
maximum operating pressure. Do not operate
with pressure switch or pilot valves set higher than the maximum
operating pressure.
To avoid injury or damage, always relieve
pressure from tank BEFORE removing
threaded fittings.
