1
Prepare a cassette tape that has the
following:
• Five minutes or more of
recorded video. (Audio is not
necessary.)
• Recorded time code (if the DV/
DVCAM camcorder supports
time code).
2
Load the tape into the camcorder
and locate to a position
approximately one minute after
the beginning of the recorded
portion.
3
Press the LEARN button.
The LEARN lamp and the power
lamp start to flash.
The camcorder automatically
plays, pauses, performs frame-to-
frame playback, and other
operations as the BKNW-25
learns the mechanical
characteristics of the camcorder.
The operations performed and
time until the BKNW-25 finishes
learning will vary depending on
the camcorder model.

4
Check that both the LEARN lamp
and the power lamp light up
continuously.
Normally, learning is completed
two or three minutes after the
LEARN button is pressed. After
the results are written to the
memory of the BKNW-25, the
LEARN lamp and the power lamp
light up continuously.

Notes
• When learning is successful, the
contents of the memory are saved
even after the power is turned off.
There is no need to repeat the
learning operation unless you change
the connection.
• When an editing control unit is
connected to the BKNW-25, the time
code indication on the editing control
unit disappears during the learning
operation and reappears when
learning finishes. When the time
code indication reappears, check that
the LEARN lamp and the power
lamp of the BKNW-25 light up. If
they do not, perform the learning
operation again.
