Prior to putting the unit/spray gun into operation, read the oper-
ating instructions completely and thoroughly. The stipulations
contained therein are to be respected in any case. After that, the
operating instructions are to be stored in a safe place, accessible
for every user of the equipment. The unit/spray gun may only be
put into operation by persons familiar with its use (professionals).
Inappropriate use of the unit/spray gun, modification of any kind
or combination with inappropriate other parts may cause material
damage, serious hazard to the user's, other person's or animal's
health or even death. SATA shall not take any responsibility for
such damages (e.g. failure to respect the stipulations laid out in
the operating instructions). The applicable safety, workplace and
worker health protection regulations of the respective country or
area/district in which the system/the spray gun is used are to be
respected in any case (e.g. the German Rules for the Prevention
of Accidents BGR 500 (BGV D25) and BGV D24 issued by the
Central Office of the Professional Trade Associations, etc.)

1. Functional Description

With the SATA spray master RP caustics, glaze, paints and
lacquers according to nozzle size, up to a viscosity of about
150 seconds - measured in the DIN 4 mm viscosity cup - can
be sprayed with reduced spray mist emission. The gun is also
suitable for the use with relatively small construction site com-
pressors due to its low air consumption. Abrasives, acid- and
benzine-based materials must not be used.
The compressed air required for spraying is fed at the air con-
nection which is screwed in into the air control fittings. By pulling
the trigger until the first pressure point the air valve is opened
150 - 230 Nl/min. (5-8
cfm) at 1-2 bar / 15 to 30

(pre-air control). By further pulling the trigger the paint needle is
pulled out of the paint nozzle. The material to be sprayed thus
flows from the paint nozzle due to the internal cup pressure and
is atomized by the compressed air simultaneously streaming
from the air cap. The material flow can be adjusted by modifying
the internal cup pressure. For more highly viscous materials a
higher internal cup pressure is to be chosen.
2. Use
Before putting into operation, and especially after each clean-
ing and any repair work, check to see that all screws and nuts
are tight. This applies in particular for the material flow control
screw (counter nut), the round/flat spray control as well as the
hexagon screw, pos. 3624, for the air micrometer. For servicing/
repair work of any kind the system must be devoid of pressure,
i.e. disconnected from the air supply. Failure to respect this
safety warning may result in damage and injuries, even death at
worst. SATA does not take any responsibility for possible results
of such failure.
a)
Mount the nozzle set tightly (use universal wrench, item
901, for the paint nozzle). Align the air nozzle so that the
number stamped into it can be read from the front the right
way round. Always mount paint nozzle before paint needle
(otherwise risk of damage).
b)
Blow out the air hose before attaching it to the air connection
(G 1/4 male thread.). The air hose must be pressure-resist-
ant for min. 10 bar and solvent-resistant. Total electric resist-
ance: < 100 million Ohm, e.g. SATA air hose, Art. No. 9902.
c)
The paint spray gun has been treated with an anticorrosive
agent before leaving the factory and must therefore be
flushed out thoroughly with thinner before use.
d)
Before unscrewing the cup resp. lid alwaysdischarge cup
pressure by pulling the ring of the safety valve; then unscrew
cup resp. lid, fill in material, screw cup resp. lid on again.
Adjust requested atomization air pressure while pulling the
trigger. Then adjust requested material supply pressure while
pulling the trigger. For adjusting the internal cup pressure, pull
shortly the ring of the safety valve, as due to the back stroke
valve the cup pressure must be reduced by activating the safety
valve. Check spray pattern on paper or similar materials and
adjust, if necessary, to its optimum by modifying the pressure.
3. Setting the Spray Pattern
By using the round/flat spray control, the spray fan can be
adjusted steplessly within the previously chosen air cap align-
ment range until obtaining round spray.
4. Adjusting the air volume by means of the
air micrometer
The infinitely variable air micrometer allows the spray air volume
to be adapted to suit the medium being sprayed or misted.
Note:
Maximum atomization = Air micrometer in vertical position (paral-
lel to gun body)
Minimum atomization = Air micrometer in horizontal position
(across gun body)
