settInG up tHe sCarIFIer

1 . Cut away and remove box from Scarifier .
The Scarif ier is a heavy u nit . DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MANUALLY LIFT FROM BOX ALONE!
M AkE sure that BOTH people lifting the machine are capable of lifting at least 100 lbs/45 .36 kgs
individually!! NEVER ATTEM PT TO LIFT THE M ACHINE WITH ONLY ONE PERSON!!
2 . Fold the handle into up right position .
3 . Verify that all bolts are tightened to secur e handle to unit .
4 . Attach clutch cable to handle .
5 . Ensure that clutch cable is connected correctl y by testing the clutch spring . It should stretch from 3/4"(1 .9 cm ) to
1"(2 .54 cm) maxim um and releases easily .
6 . Check engine to ensure that it is f illed with oil .
7 . Verif y with Engine Man uf acturer's Manual for any f urther procedures to prepar e engine for use .
Switch: through which to stop a running engine .
Dethatching control bar: through which to convert
the rake to dethatching state or not .
Dethatching clutch lever: through which to engage
the rotor with flails .
