Focusing on a subject

To focus the camera on a subject
automatically
Press the AUTO/MANUAL button so that the AUTO
indicator lights.
The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the
screen automatically.
To focus the camera on a subject
manually
Press the AUTO/MANUAL button so that the AUTO
indicator turns off.
Then turn the FOCUS control clockwise or
counterclockwise to have the camera focus on the
subject.
Focusing on a near
subject
One-push auto focusing during manual
focus adjustment
Press the ONE PUSH AF button.
The camera focuses on the subject in the center of the
screen automatically.

subject

Shooting with back lighting

When you shoot a subject with a light source behind it,
the subject becomes dark. In such a case, press the
BACK LIGHT button.
To cancel the function, press the BACK LIGHT button
again.

Note
The BACK LIGHT function is effective if MODE is set
to FULL AUTO or BACK LIGHT in the EXPOSURE
menu of the camera. Each time you press the button, the
BACK LIGHT function toggles between on and off.
Shooting with spotlight compensation
If a portion of the shooting object is illuminated, the
spotlight compensation function adjusts the exposure to
a darker level. Hold down the SHIFT button and press
the BACK LIGHT button.
To cancel the function, hold down the SHIFT button and
press the BACK LIGHT button again.
Notes
• The backlighting and spotlight compensation
functions cannot be used simultaneously.
• The spotlight compensation function is effective if
MODE is set to FULL AUTO or SPOT LIGHT in the
EXPOSURE menu of the camera. Each time you press
the button, the BACK LIGHT function toggles
between on and off.

Adjusting the white balance

Before adjusting the white balance, shoot a white object
under the same lighting conditions as the subject you
want to shoot, and zoom it in on the screen. (You can use
a white wall, etc., instead of the object.)
To adjust the white balance automatically

Set WHITE BALANCE to ONE PUSH in the
COLOR menu of the camera.
For setting, see "COLOR Menu" on the operating
instructions of the camera.

Press the ONE PUSH AWB button.
The white balance is adjusted automatically.
