9. Dismantling the
pump/reassembly
– Switch-off power supply to the plant and secure
against unauthorized switching,
– close suction and discharge isolating valves.
– Drain the pump.
– Undo internal hexagon bolts (437a) at the flange
between pump and spacer lantern (5b) and extract
motor complete with impeller and lantern from
pump housing. Pump housing (201f) remains in
built-in position.
– Carefully preserve housing gasket (411a).
– Undo impeller nut (49a) and remove impeller
washer (319k), impeller (207a) and key (487b).
– Remove housing cover (71c), circlip (481a) and
bearing bush (59a).
ATTENTION! Exchange of mechanical seal also
requires replacing the bearing
bush.
– Undo internal hexagon screws and extract rotating
part of mechanical seal (105b) from shaft.
– Remove spacer lantern (5b) from motor flange and
extract stationary ring (105a) complete with seal
rings (413a and 413b).
– Thoroughly clean all parts, seat and seals and
check for wear.
Reassembly takes place in reversed sequence to
dismantling.
If the pump had been dismantled, all parts subject to
wear and tear (bearings, mechanical seal, gaskets,
etc.) should, on principle, be replaced with new parts.
When exchanging the mechanical seal, take care to
maintain the building-in dimension "L2" as shown in
Fig. 5.
If it is not possible to control dimension "L2" with
onsite measuring devices, it will be necessary to
establish on the original part the measurement "L1"
from the shaft end to the mechanical seal and then
to transfer dimension "L1" to the replacemant part for
locating the mechanical seal on the new shaft.
