SYMpTOMS - pOSSiBle caUSeS anD cORRecTiOnS
Turn firepit OFF and allow to cool before servicing. Only a qualified service person should service and repair the firepit.
1.
Firepit produces unwanted odors.
a. Firepit burning vapors from unremoved plastic film, scented
candles and torches, glues, etc. - Ventilate area. Stop using
odor causing products while firepit is in operation.
b. Gas leak - Locate and correct all leaks.
2.
Firepit shuts off during use. (Burner is off.)
a. Too much crushed glass under thermopile.
b. Low line pressure - Contact local gas company.
c. Defective flame sensor - Replace thermocouple.
d. Strong wind blew flame off sensor for extended time. Relight
burner. If this occurs frequently, optional wind deflector glass
kit may help. See accessories on page 6.
3.
electrode does not spark or click when ignitor is pushed
a. Check battery orientation, or replace battery.
b. Clear area around electrode of crushed glass, etc.
c. Igniter ground wire loose or detached from ignitor.
d. Electrode wire loose or detached from ignitor.
e. Check the distance between the thermopile and electrode
tip. This distance must be set at 3/16" ± 1/16".
f. Wiring problem. Fix or replace electrode assembly.
g. Electrode broken. Replace electrode assembly.
h. Faulty ignitor. Replace ignitor.
4.
Gas odor even when control knob is in OFF position.
a. Turn off main gas shutoff and call a qualified installer.
b. Gas leak - Locate and correct all leaks.
c. Control valve defective - Replace control valve.
5.
Burner does not light.
a. Not holding down control knob long enough.
b. Clear crushed glass from under the thermopile.
c. Clean and/or replace thermocouple.

10. Firepit gas pressure is low.
Burner does not stay lit.
a. Burner orifice clogged - Clean burner or replace main burner
orifice.
b. Inlet gas pressure is too low - Contact qualified service
person.
If burning at main burner orifice occurs (a loud, roaring
blow torch noise).
a. Turn off firepit and contact a qualified service person.
b. Manifold pressure is too low - Contact local gas company.
c. Burner orifice clogged - Clean burner or replace burner
orifice.
Firepit produces a whistling noise when main burner is lit.
a. Turning control knob to HIGH position when main burner is
cold - Turn control knob to LOW position and let warm up
for a minute.
b. Air in gas line - Operate burner until air is removed from
line. Have gas line checked by local gas company.
c. Dirty or partially clogged burner orifice - Clean burner or
replace burner orifice.
Firepit produces soot or backfires.
a. Gas quality is bad - Contact your local gas supplier
immediately.
a. Contact your local gas supplier immediately.
