Installing the securing screw
Screw the securing screw (10) anticlockwise into the open
keyed chuck. Always use a new securing screw because a se-
curing adhesive substance is applied on its thread and is
rendered ineffective after repeated use.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some
wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one's
health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Operation
Starting Operation
Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the
u
power source must match the voltage specified on the
rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked
with 230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Products that are only sold in AUS and NZ: Use a resid-
u
ual current device (RCD) with a nominal residual current
of 30 mA or less.
Setting the rotational direction (see figure D)
The rotational direction switch (7) is used to change the ro-
tational direction of the power tool. However, this is not pos-
sible while the on/off switch (6) is being pressed.
Right rotation: For drilling or stirring, push the rotational
direction switch (7) all the way to the left.
Left rotation: For loosening or stirring, push the rotational
direction switch (7) all the way to the right.
Switching on/off
To start the power tool, press and hold the on/off switch
(6).
Press the lock-on button (5) to lock the on/off switch (6) in
this position.
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (6);
or, if the switch is locked with the lock-on button (5), briefly
press the on/off switch (6) and then release it.
Adjusting the Speed
You can adjust the speed of the power tool when it is on by
pressing in the on/off switch (6) to varying extents.
Bosch Power Tools
A light pressure on the on/off switch (6) results in a low rota-
tional speed. Increased pressure on the switch causes an in-
crease in speed.
Work instructions for drilling
Use a drill emulsion or cutting oil for cooling and lubrication
in order to prevent the drill bit from overheating or jamming.
For drilling diameters > 10 mm, pre-drill with a small drilling
diameter. This allows you to reduce the contact pressure
and puts less strain on the power tool.
When drilling into metal, only use sharpened HSS drills (HSS
= high-speed steel) which are in perfect condition. The
Bosch accessory range guarantees appropriate quality.
The machine vice, which is available as an accessory, en-
ables the workpiece to be securely clamped. This prevents
the workpiece from turning and any accidents this could
cause.
Work instructions for stirring
Do not use the power tool in a stand.
u
Avoid splashing the material. Otherwise you could slip
u
and lose control of the power tool.
Avoid continuously operating the power tool at re-
u
duced speed. Otherwise the motor of the power tool
could overheat.
To release the lock-on button (5), briefly press the on/off
switch (6) and then let it go. This will prevent the power tool
from restarting unintentionally (risk of injury).
The stirrer paddle selected depends on the material that is
to be stirred.
For materials with low viscosity, e.g. emulsion paint, var-
nishes, adhesive, grouting compound or cement slurry, use a
stirrer paddle with a left-hand spiral. The material is moved
from the top downwards in a stirrer paddle with a left-hand
spiral. The stirrer paddle is pushed upwards. Materials with
low viscosity are mixed in a way which minimises splattering.
For materials with high viscosity, e.g. ready-mixed plaster,
concrete, cement, screed, filler or epoxy resin, use a stirrer
paddle with right-hand spiral. The material is moved from
the bottom upwards in a stirrer paddle with a right-hand
spiral. The stirrer paddle works its way into the mixture. Ma-
terials with high viscosity are mixed thoroughly.
Move the power tool up and down when working. Clean the
stirrer paddle after use.
Store the power tool in a safe place. Ensure that it can-
u
not fall over. The power tool may become damaged if this
happens.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance and Cleaning
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep
u
the power tool and the ventilation slots clean.
