Description and use

When the HRI-E/VORT HRI PHANTOM appliance is first
installed, the operating parameters are set by means of
a dedicated panel supplied only to installers, which is
connected to the appliance by way of a special cable
(figure 1).

Modbus (HRI-E)
The modbus connection cable, which will be found in
the packaging of the appliance, has the following
colours:
Black --> -
White --> +
Grey --> G
The cable must be connected to the controller by way of
the RS485 port.
The connector, coloured white, is coded and can be
connected to the only port available on the PLC.
The maximum length of the direct Modbus-RS485
connection is 100 m, although if the appliance is wired
into a RS485 network, the maximum length of the
branch is 40 cm.
NOTE: Modbus networks using RS485 operate typically
at 9600 baud, and some at 19200; accordingly, if the
appliance is wired into a network, the default baud rate
setting must be changed from 38400 to 9600 or 19200.
These changes will take effect after the system has been
switched off (disconnected from the power supply) and
then switched on again.

When configuring the system initially, the installer must
set the following operating parameters of the appliance:
- No-Frost functions;
- motor speeds;
- modbus (HRI-E)
- filter status diagnostics,
as described below.
(When the power supply is turned on, the panel shows
the version and current release of the software installed,
displayed in xryy format).

Press the SET button to access the main menu; the
following menu options can be displayed by pressing
the UP and DOWN buttons repeatedly:
- Frst: set Nofrost parameters and functions;
- Al: view error messages;
- Temp: view temperature values measured by the 4
sensors;
- Mbus (HRI-E): set parameters for Modbus connection;
- Filt: enable and set filter alarm parameters
- FanE: enable and set exhaust speed separately
- Fan: set supply and exhaust speeds together
The SET and ESC buttons are used generally for the
following functions:
SET: access a menu, access parameter settings, save
and quit
ESC: quit without saving.
