Taema OPTI-NO
3. Equations for calculating the reduction pressure to be used for NO/N
bottles of concentrations other than 225 and 450 ppm.
• High range flow:
P =
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
{
122.82 x
(I% / 100) x (1.04 x [NO]
• Low range flow:
P =
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
{
23.82 x
(I% / 100) x (1.04 x [NO]
Where, for both equations:
P:
is the pressure to be set on the pressure
regulator (in bar)
V:
is the minute volume set on the ventilator
(in l/min.)
I%:
is the insufflation time set on the ventilator
(in % of I+E)
Example with figures:
[NO]
= 2 ppm / [NO]
desired
For the high flow range, P = 2.1 bar, to be set on the pressure regulator.
For the low flow range, P = 14.33 bar, to be set on the pressure regulator.
As the pressure regulator only allows a maximum pressure of 8 bar to be set, the high flow range will be
used
Notes:
• A pressure of less than 1 bar set on the pressure regulator does not allow sufficient accuracy.
• The above equations have been calculated for an ambient temperature of 20 °C.
• Do not use NO/N
mixture bottles of more than 1000 ppm.
2
Important:
• The OPTI-NO must only be adjusted and used on prescription and under medical control.
• The OPTI-NO is a device for supplying injection of a NO/N
It is not fitted out with the monitoring of the inhaled gases by the patient (O
concentration, ...). The physician has to judge the timeliness to use it in conjunction with an
additional monitoring system.
