Taema OPTI-NO
The OPTI-NO is a device for supplying NO. It is fitted
onto a bottle of NO/NO
2
to be injected into the patient circuit of the ventilator.
It can be adapted onto several types of ventilator and
has two operating modes:
- continuous flow, adjustable from 40 to 1,200 ml/min.
- administration synchronised with the inspiratory
phase of a determined volume of the NO/N
The OPTI-NO makes the NO easier to administer by
providing precise regulation of the flow over a very
wide flow range. Regardless of the mode used, the
OPTI-NO reassures users as it has an alarm which is
tripped when the bottle is empty, one which detects
a pressure regulator fault and one which detects a
mains power fault.
The NO dosage is determined using of the OPTI-NO
rule or the equations supplied with the system (see
technical data § III.3).
1. List of the constituent parts of the
system
Check that the following elements are present when
the OPTI-NO box is unpacked.
• Two stage pressure regulator, whose pressure can
be adjusted from 1 to 8 bar (except for ref. KB011500,
see specifications for the regulator on the technical
sheet, ref. YL019000).
• NO supply unit.
• Pipe equipped with a filter and straight connector for
inspiration detection.
• Pipe equipped with a filter and elbow (or straight,
depending on user's preference) connector for
injecting NO into the patient circuit.
• Electrical power supply adapter 230 V AC / 12 V DC
or 115 V AC / 12 V DC, depending on the country it
is used in (see specifications on page 8) and electrical
connectors to fix to the device thanks the fixing sytem
provided.
• OPTI-NO rule (concentration may be determined too with
equations (see technical data § III.3)).

2. Fitting the OPTI-NO onto a bottle

Ensure that the inlet connector of the pressure
regulator is in good condition (seal fitted and not
damaged, except for the model reference KB013900,
which does not use a seal)
Screw the inlet connector of the pressure regulator
right onto the bottle tap but do not force it. Do not use
a spanner or pliers. For the model reference KB013900
(no seal on the inlet connector of the pressure regulator),
a spanner must be used to tighten it.
Fitted with an O ring
on the inlet connector
Open the bottle tap slowly (the operating pressure of
the bottle can be read on the manometer). To perform
this operation, always stand next to the pressure
regulator and never in front of it.
In the case of a leak between the pressure regulator
and the bottle tap:

Only use original spare parts supplied by Taema.
Note: For the model ref. KB013900 (not seal at the
inlet connection), in case of leak, a service is desirable.

Remove the protective
cap from the bottle tap.
Fitted with no O ring
on the inlet connector
- Close the bottle tap
and wait until the leak
stops (zero pressure
reading on the high
pressure manometer).
- Do not tighten the
connector when it is
pressurised.
- Remove the pressure
regulator and change
the seal.
