Your vacuum cleaner is equipped with the following 2 filters:

Motor protection filter (Fig. 23/1)
It prevents larger particles from destroying the motor in

case the dust filter bag is defective.
- Cleaning: at every filter bag change, but at least every
3 months
- Changing: Every time you open a new box of dust
filter bags, as these always contain a new motor
protection filter, but at least every 6 months
(ZChapter 4.3, "Cleaning / changing the motor

Hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 23/2)
Filters out very fine particles from the exhaust air stream.
- Cleaning: at every filter bag change, but at least every
6 months
- Changing: only if it is very dirty or damaged
(ZChapter 4.4, "Cleaning / changing the exhaust
filter")
1. Switch off the appliance and remove the dust filter bag
as described under ZChapter 4.1, "Changing the dust
filter bag", steps 1-4.
2. Remove the filter holder with the motor protection filter
(Fig. 24).
3. Remove the motor protection filter (Fig. 25/1) from the
filter holder (Fig. 25/2) over a dustbin.
4. Rinse filter holder and filter thoroughly by hand in clear
running cold or hand-warm water.
ATTENTION:
The motor protection filter is washable, but it may not be
cleaned in dishwashers or washing-machines. Do not

use chemical cleansers to clean the filter. Then leave the
motor protection filter to dry (approx. 24 hours at room
temperature). Only put it back into the appliance when it
is completely dry.
5. If the motor protection filter is damaged or deformed,
replace it with a new one (ZChapter 6.1, "Accessories
and Spare Parts").
6. Insert the cleaned or new motor protection filter into the
filter holder.
7. Firmly push the freshly equipped filter holder, correctly
positioned, from above into into its receptacle (Fig. 26).
8. Insert a fresh dust filter bag and close the dust
compartment cover. The cover snaps shut.
