Read the Operating Instructions carefully before use.
Save these instructions for future reference.
Never lift people, and never lift loads over people. The winch must not be used to lift up, or
suspend, loads. The winch is only intended to pull loads horizontally.
Do not overload the winch. We recommend using a snatch block and double wires for loads over
450 kg.
Do not run the winch for long with a heavy load, this could damage the winch. If the motor gets very
hot, switch off the winch and allow it to cool. Never run the winch continuously for more than 1
minute at, or close to, the nominal load.
Never load the winch if there are less than 5 turns of wire on the drum. Otherwise, the wire can
come loose from the drum when loaded and cause personal injury and/or material damage.
Do not attempt to pull loads at an angle, this will cause the wire to collect at one end of the drum. If
this happens the wire can jam, which could damage the wire and/or the winch.
The winch reaches its maximum pulling power with an input voltage of 12 VDC. The winch has its
maximum pulling power when the wire lies directly on the drum, i.e. when it is almost completely
unwound.
Never hook the hook round the wire, this can damage the wire. Use a nylon loop.
Do not run the winch if it is not fastened to a vehicle or other anchor point.
When winching loads, wind up the wire slowly so that it is stretched tight. Stop the winch and check
all the wire couplings. Check that the hook is properly secured. If a nylon loop is used, check that
the load is firmly secured.
Place a heavy blanket or jacket etc. over the wire near the hook end when winching heavy loads.
The weight will reduce the risk of the wire end flying away if the wire breaks.
Do not move the vehicle to move the load. This could overload the wire, and damage the wire or
the winch.
Keep your hands and other parts of your body away from the drum and wire when winching. Keep
at a safe distance of at least 1.5 metres.
Make sure that no one is near, or in line with the wire when it is loaded.
Before using the winch, apply the parking brake on the vehicle and wedge the wheels. Start the
engine, put it out of gear and let the engine idle. Failure to do this can result in a flat battery, so that
it will not be possible to start the vehicle.
Do not disconnect the wire when it is loaded.
Relieve the wire after winching. Do not leave the wire loaded.
Always keep at a safe distance from the wire, hook and winch.
Check the condition of the wire and the equipment regularly. Replace the wire immediately if any
threads are broken. Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Always wear heavy-
duty safety gloves when handling the wire. Never allow the wire to slip through your hands.
Keep at a safe distance from the winch, the wire and the hook when in use. Never insert your
hands or fingers in the hook – risk of serious personal injury. Always use the safety strap to guide
the wire.
Wind up the wire properly on the drum after use.
Never use the winch if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Stay
alert. Pay attention to what you are doing and use your common sense when working with the
winch.
Wear ear protection. Wear safety glasses.
Do not machine or weld any part of the winch. This could weaken the winch and result in the risk of
personal injury and/or material damage, and will also invalidate the warranty.
Maintain the winch in good order.
