Cooling tower treatment example

Multronic equipment:
• C – measuring and controller module as desalination device (Module 1)
• Timer-Module for the biocide metering (Module 2)
• pH – measurement without controller for acid control, (Module 3)
• Relay module for biocide metering (relay module plug-in connection)

Bleeding

The cooling water thickens through evaporation and conductivity increases.
When the set point W+ of e.g. 1.600 µS/cm is exceeded, relay 2 starts up, contact 4
closes and the bleeding valve opens.
If the liquid level in the cooling water container falls below the limit contact of the level
monitor, fresh water is feed in and the conductivity of the cooling water decreases.
(Note: it is possible that it takes several hours before there is a recognisable decrease
in conductivity in the case of large systems).
If the value falls below the lower set point W- of e.g. 1400 µS/cm, the relay releases,
the 4a contact closes and the bleeding valve closes again.
This process can be monitored through the limit-contacts L- and L+ (e. g. L- 600 µS/cm
and L+ 1.800 µS/cm). If required, an alarm signal can be issued through relay output 1.
The standard signal outputs of the individual measuring modules can be transmitted to
a recording instrument to record the measured values. The configuration is carried out
through the parameter current output (0/4-20 mA) and measuring range distribution
(e.g. 300 to 1.800 µS/cm).
